More a Server thing, If its correct. But I don't believe it will be picked up in the server tread. And I don't read that tread (amoung others) anymore.
It seems to me that the res file "gfx/hud/combat/ip" is missing on the server.
As it seems to be the only res file that (so far) will not get retrieved ... (seems to be needed for the client startup/logon process.)
- unless its on purpose, but can't think of any reason for that.
- Default client, Local install, Checked to be Update to last available game files.
- Just in case. (manly for others) No, I have no problem running the (any) client.
Well, think that covers it.

If it were on the server everyone would have the same problem.

Why don't you first start asking questions if your not sure about what I'm talking about instead of drawing some quick, and wrong, conclusions.
Facts:
- I know the IP file I'm taking about is also "packed" in the Haven-res file.
- I'm taking about the presents of the IP file itself as stand alone res file.
Because:
- Al other res files that are in the Haven-res file seem to be available as stand alone res files on the server.
- The IP file seems to be not available, while its also seems to be crucial for the client to run.
Clear?
And reread what you have written ...
@dDev's
Figure I't could/might be a prevention measure to prevent the Haven client to run in a mode thats not really working for the game. (slow ... and generating unneeded much bandwidth use.)
If thats the case. I don't mind clearing this topic. (PM it if you like)

It's there. What makes you think it isn't?
Code: Select all

Re: Res "gfx/hud/combat/ip" (missing on server?)
Aha, ok.
Was (test) running the client in local mode, But without a haven-res file. And it kept consistently error-ing out with a error on the IP file. (the IP.res file was only loaded in some preloaded form. 18 bytes '*.cached.new file')
This despite the fact that a lot of other files did get loaded(cached) correctly. ... This was with a fresh/empty, or a none existing cache folder.
I tried this this a couple of time, without toughing the cache data. But without success -> same error.
- to get passed the error, I just added a IP.res only haven-res file. ... and posted the question.
Retesting it now with a much more filled cache. It now is loading the IP.res file. ... So, yea. the file its there, and (at some point) will also be fully loaded/cached.
(Retested with empty cached folder to, just to be sure. same error.)
Think that concludes the missing IP.res file question.
(fast bug rewrite: Client premature error-exits if the IP.res file if its not fully cached/downloaded yet when client needs it. ... if thats truly the case.)
