The game can scale either way. If STR is too easy to get, you don't have to nerf the FEPs gained, you can instead nerf the effect of STR, which affects things more evenly. I'd rather see the FEPs of all foods boosted because some of them just seem pointless after you have a couple hundred points in any stat.
in b4 lol y u have so mny stat?

Differentiated Intestines for calves seems like it would be a huge pain the the ass, do you have any idea how long it would take to get even a modest amount of renent if calf intestines were our only source? At the very least their would need to be wild auroch calves.
The real problem is the insane 100+ quality levels you can get from wild animals particularly bear which allows high quality everything 3 days after the world starts.
Still calves for Renent is realistic, so how about a compromise, cow/auroch have a higher intestine:meat ratio then other animals (either others are lowered of cow is raised or both). Also make intestine quality a separate factor from meat quality so we can try to breed cows specifically for that purpose. And a calf animal would have a modifier on quality of its meat and intestines (maybe +50% over normal 'adult' quality), while providing half the normal quantity, which would add some interesting trade offs for the player and a reason to slaughter calves. The total effect is that calves would be ideal for renent but not the only source.
And finally you could just make cheese less mind blowingly powerful rather then harder to make if you feel the investment:reward ratio is inapropriate. Cheese is/was a rather common and ubiquitous food especially in Northern Europe ware the game is set.

You are aware of the fact that they are differentiated from normal intestines already since world 4 for goldbeaters skin?ImpalerWrG wrote:Differentiated Intestines for calves seems like it would be a huge pain the the ass

Nope, recomend someone update the wiki. While I such an onerous requirement for making the game most elite jewlery items is not unreasonable, I still do not believe it appropriate for something that should be common like cheese.burgingham wrote:You are aware of the fact that they are differentiated from normal intestines already since world 4 for goldbeaters skin?ImpalerWrG wrote:Differentiated Intestines for calves seems like it would be a huge pain the the ass
Also I take it that the limitation of calf intestines was primarily done to locks the goldbeater skins directly to domesticated cow quality which is one of the few things in the game which dose not have over-night quality explosion. Again, this would not have been necessary if wild animals had reasonable quality levels.

Mess with vinegar is you must but stay away from intestines. I hate intestines already. Until there is something else worthwhile to do with meat than sausages wasting the already too rare intestines is cruel.

LOL stat inflation. Can't wait till they have to boost soak of everything again, and then we get even better strength FEPs, and then they increase soak again, ad nauseam.Sever wrote:The game can scale either way. If you didn't use all your bear and deer intestine for rennet, you'd have more intestine for sausage.

Intestines only have a ~15% contribution to the quality of a sausage though.

If I didn't use bear and deer intestines I'd have a shitton of cow and sheep meat I'd have to through away. Cheese is ok let it fucking be. It's not like stats matter al that much.

Re: Cheese quantity nerf
the best solution imo would be to completely re-balance the FEPs for all foods. cheese should be good, but not quite as good as it is now, and some of the cheeses don't make sense to make. why do cave cheddar when bbc is better and no more difficult? why do sunlit stilton or musky miben at all, ever? meanwhile a host of foods languish in mediocrity or downright inferiority even while they are somewhat difficult or at the very least tedious to make.

Cheese doesnt need to be made harder to produce. Mass producing it is only easy because its a long, non interactive process. If you want to nerf it, making the rennet harder to make and exclusive to advanced dairy farmers isn't the way to do it. This change would mean that newer players or those without cattle cant make any cheese at all.
