Machiavelli, by which I presume you mean "The Prince", is not tactics, its policy.Sarchi wrote:If you're going to discuss tactics at least use Machiavelli instead of Sun-Tzu this time.

I actually would describe it as politics mainly, not policies. Despite that Machiavelli is considered to be a standard work for tactics. Political tactics are not so far from war tactics, which brings me to the third luminary (besides Sun-Tzu and Machiavelli) adressing the topic: "War is a mere continuation of politics by other means" Quoted from Clausewitz of course. So to attain a full-fledged grasp on how politics/warfare work one really should have read all three (and probably more). Sticking to a single one of them might limit your view.ImpalerWrG wrote:Machiavelli, by which I presume you mean "The Prince", is not tactics, its policy.Sarchi wrote:If you're going to discuss tactics at least use Machiavelli instead of Sun-Tzu this time.

so you will hunt AD? thxSo I will write this as warning... everybody who attack without reason, stealing, vandaling... you will be targets for our rangers and will be tracked if people come out as our friends or trade partners. People who will not use criminal skills will not have to worry.

Re: Asking to KOprah winfreYA
Well these terms have gotten muddied over the years, I take the rather strict meaning of tactics as "what is done once battle is joined" and strategy as "the thought and planning before battle". While the word tactics is now commonly used to convey everything done in competition, aka "debate tactics", "dating tactics", "exam tactic". I was trying to convey that Machiavelli doesn't deal with the battlefield the way Sun-Tzu dose, when Machiavelli says "See that the people are always under any condition of things in need of your governance and they will always be loyal to you" that's what I call policy or if you prefer 'political strategy', you will have to supply the actual tactic to achieve this. Sun-Tzu gives battlefield strategy in the same broad brush, neither really goes into the tactics that will be used, rather they would help us perform the act of strategy which would be our choosing of our tactics for some specific future conflict.burgingham wrote:I actually would describe it as politics mainly, not policies. I've not read Clausewitz, though I have heard of him and and hope to give him a read someday.

AD guy. A lot of theft scents. Killed for murder scent. Gave 60+k LP + 30kLP. Killed 2 mini screens from walls of AD fortress at South-West.
His last words: "This is AD, babies".
His buddy-thief still alive.
His alt before before dying had funny things to say:

That is nice when they thank for their own death. You are always welcome.
