Re: cheese trays are the new buckets
I wonder why they don't implement a system where the longer you do something, the less lp you get for that.

Yep something like that that. I haven't macro'd at all even though i've died like 3 times with a total of 120 hours in all my chars, which is nothing compared to some.Grelf wrote:Expect 20 threads whining about cheese trays next week. Then we get a nerf again. Then macroers find something else, and it gets nerfed again. After a while everything is nerfed and normal people get even less LP than they did before, whilst those people will still be there macroing whatever is best for them.
I saw a mod saying that the logic of "well we need something to grind on" is ridiculous. I see where he's coming from because this isn't a KMMO. But it's true, you can only develop land so much before you have to go grind.

I can imagine:
chop trees till they give no LP anymore.
make boards till they give no LP anymore.
make cheese trays till they give no LP anymore.
continue doing this with all items you you'll end up with:
...Make dragon helmets, steel plates and merchants' robes till they give no LP anymore.
..YOU CANT EARN ANY MORE LP HA BITCH.

I don't think that's been a popular topic. He probably meant until you do something else, or just reduced LP due to fatigue from everything or boredom from one thing.SacreDoom wrote:Garlicman wrote:I wonder why they don't implement a system where the longer you do something, the less lp you get for that.

Perhaps they should increase the LP gained per wood material gained from carts, crates, and boats, crates more so which are more useful more generally. crates the most, boats the second, carts the third.
Or nuke LP gain from finite resources such as stone boulder, tree, and mine, clay nodes somewhat, and force people to gain LP from foraging, farming, fishing, hunting, and branches (where logs no longer can make more branches).
Or make a debuff that decreases stats ~10% every ~10 items crafted from a finite resource.
Planting trees decreases this debuff (where maybe there are different debuffs for each resource)
Named like Nature's Wrath, Cave Curse, or Enemy of Stone.

Work on a mining thread for me. Here are my shitty mining notes. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=31382&p=442398#p442398

No, lp gain rates should recover after some time. The idea is to stimulate people to switch tasks once in a while, and the more different tasks they perform, the more lp they get.SacreDoom wrote:Garlicman wrote:I wonder why they don't implement a system where the longer you do something, the less lp you get for that.

Re: cheese trays are the new buckets
I'm thinking more like a cooldown time for lp gain rates, so that it won't be like "cut 100 trees, make 1 teapot to remove lp debuff, cut another 100 trees".Sever wrote:I don't think that's been a popular topic. Re: cheese trays are the new buckets
The only way to get rid of macro-ing is to implement something like a captcha, or some kind of test to make sure a real person is playing. Possibly something like an icon that pops up at a random location in the screen that must be clicked to continue (would suck during combat...). Or maybe two buttons, a yes and no button.
Other than that, "grinding" will never ever be removed entirely. I don't really think it should be either. The whole point of the game is that people can do what they like with the world. As long as they aren't macro-ing, then what does it matter how a person gains their LP, as long as they put their own time and energy in to it? Sure, deforestation for bucketting is ugly and stupid, but i've got no right to dictate how another person spends their time in game.

You mean give out decent lp for fun activities instead of forcing people to do the same repetitive task to get ahead?Agasi wrote:Perhaps they should increase the LP gained per wood material gained from carts, crates, and boats, crates more so which are more useful more generally. crates the most, boats the second, carts the third.

I think that's a pretty good idea. It wouldn't be too much of a chore to just click a button to activate the craft. And it would totally be worth it if it'd quell the macroers. But since half the community doesn't seem to want macroing gone I wont press on the matter too hard.Zirikana wrote:The only way to get rid of macro-ing is to implement something like a captcha, or some kind of test to make sure a real person is playing. I had another idea (wich has by the laws of probability has already been suggested), I'm not even sure I like it myself but here goes: An equivalent of travel weariness, that would work against LP learning rate instead. The more LP you earn the higher this debuff would rise, until you needed to sleep (or something else, perhaps alcohol and buds would not make sense in this instance) to return your rate to normal.
