Technically since the devs allow them yes. I mean shit I use ender's.... but I gotta say just the night vision is flat out cheating. it renders torches (an important aspect of the game when exploring caves) useless. Not to mention hiding places for those who want to pvp. Can't hide behind anything. Nothing game-breaking, but still, it's third party software that gives the user a clear advantage over one who doesn't use it, in many games that qualifies as cheating in the ToS and would get you banned. I'm just glad the devs allow it here.

If the devs strongly didn't want you to use these features they would remove access to them. It's really not that hard.

Modifying the clients isn't considered cheating, like how you would mod a game's UI.

But Modifying it to the point where you gain an advantage ingame is considered cheating.

Modding is basically a grey area, so anyone is allowed to call on whether a client is cheating by their own regards.

And they aren't derailing it if they are talking about clients still.

For example, having the game tell you exactly where on the map the coordinates, and possibly extra features that gives you full advantage over others (like being able to render data and objects further away, thus you see them, they can't see you).
