What to do about thieves?

Post by gisewindblade »

I got news from my citizens that they saw some thieves roaming around, We don't have a deed but we have a witness and names. What do I do about this? I don't want to let them get away with robbing us.

Option A:
Get ranging and decent exploration, and hunt thieves when they leave scents (this requires claimed land).

Option B:
Claim your land and hope the thieves were newbies.

Option C:
Claim your land and build walls around it.

Option D:
Hire a ranger.

Option E:
Join a more powerful, protected town instead of trying to make your own.

Option F:
Move further away and hope they don't come by again.

This all relies on you being able to claim your property, however -- most people generally operate under an assumption of "if it's unclaimed, it's fair game".

Comedy Option:
Post their names on the forums and whine about it (note: I don't think this will actually stop them).

Anyway, I am close to getting it claimed, but got news that they just walked in took some stuff and left, I might hire a ranger but I don't know how.

Well, if it's unclaimed, a ranger can't help you anyways, because they didn't leave any scents, and there's no proof they stole anything. Did you try following them and taking back what was taken?

If it's not on a claim they aren't actually stealing from you yet. Just so you know.

The current world is filled with garbage and abandoned homes, so I wouldn't judge them too harshly.

that wouldn't help too much, they could just trespass over it, you should probably just put the stuff you don't want stolen over a claim for now, until you can claim the whole area. That way at least if it does get stolen, you can get help from a ranger.
