You guys are acting so surprised at OP being a slave to those more powerful. This happens all the time - on World 3, one of our neighbouring villages would find out peaceful farming hermits - or even settlements - and force them to give their produce to the village on a regular basis, or they would die. They also attracted noobs in the area with blatant lies, and then put them to work in their mines with the same threat of death. It sounds pointless, but they ended up getting masses of ore and supplies just because they got slaves to do the menial labour.

Step One: Have combat skills and decent armor
Step Two: Get a boat and a friend
Step Three: Build a palisade and have a small area squared off for the purposes of storing people.
Step Four: Lurk near water and wait for someone with newbie-looking equipment to approach and leave his boat for some reason. Leaving a chest out in the open can expedite this process.
Step Five: Pop out of the woods and initiate combat so he can't Travel back to his Hearth Fire. Your friend should go straight for the boat that the newbie-looking guy brought with him so he can't escape.
Step Six: Tell him that you will kill him if he logs off, runs away, or anything that isn't getting in the boat with your friend so you can go for a ride.
Step Seven: Take the newbie straight to your storage area, which should have a crate with five sticks and a Beautiful Dream.
Step Eight: Tell him to build a Hearth Fire in the palisaded area or you will kill him.
Step Nine: Lock him inside and explain that he will now be working for the Glorious Army of Whateverthefuckistan.

You might have to take a few attempts at this, because some newbies are actually alts of experienced players who don't particularly care whether said alt dies or not. You might also lose your potential slave to your friend being semi-retarded and leaving his boat unguarded for a few precious seconds during Step Seven, which is what happened to me and why I managed to escape the clutches of a pair of slavers myself.

Hell if I know. I was the potential victim in this example. It must be working for those guys, though. I can't think of any other reason why they would try it.
