At least my gem graphic is custom.

the point was the runeword itself. it gives uberpowah to the owner.

Runes in weapons would be cool, yeah.

well yeah. jewellers can write inscriptions on the weapons and armor, so the those warriors, who gain glory, were honored, and so on.
this also makes implemention of books much more desired, as for writing down the folklore stuff, legends and horror stories of battles and treasons
