what happened to this feature actually?
Was it just buggy or not working properly?
After all the bucketing i would mind it being brought back even just for a week to get some more trees around the place

It had a tendency to spawn trees where they couldn't grow, such as on cliffs on right next to another tree.

Pretty sure they spun it as human actions having permanent effects. You cut the forest down, you have to clean up your mess. I wouldn't mind if they regrew 2-4 weeks later or something, but ehn, this works. Have fun with your herbalist tables bud

Nah, it's just that Loftar never ironed out the algorithm so it spawns trees only in legitimate locations. It will likely be reimplemented eventually.
