what freedom, exactly? what do you wish to do now that you can't do?pyrale wrote:In other words, the new system has completely failed at him.Kaios wrote:You have completely failed at the new system.
Basically, there was a sizeable population of players who enjoyed the freedom of move given by the old system, and which lost that freedom with the new system. Even with decent understanding of the game process (I've been raiding ant hills and grinding decent curios since yesterday) and decent results, I have lost that feeling of freedom I had when I started W4.
All of this to fix LP grinding abuses that were only used by a fraction of the hardcore population and which could have been solved differently.

You really failed to understand the new system. What if you just try. You do jot have to grind up. Just work as you would before, buildnup the house, meanwhile you can make cows and forage dandelions (they appear even with exp 1 per 10). You have chance to get wood wash or how the hell is it called and basically the game works nearly the same. Except you will not bucketgrind for yeo to protect your shitstuff the first day. Are you hurt by that?

Newsflash: complaining does not give LP.

That is all without even bothering to stop to make a backpack. There are still things I've not crafted. Haven't mined anything. Haven't for one moment stopped to worry about farming curiosities.

I just think it's the fact that "doing" things just doesn't feel productive anymore given the fact that you're not gaining ANY lp when you do them. Roadbuilding is a good example of a tedious but necessary task that was at least helped by the fact that you'd gain 10k LP for an hours work. Nowadays if you haven't sought out your curiosities beforehand, the time spent roadbuilding is completely useless (from a learning standpoint, obviously it's useful in the fact that you now have a road).sabinati wrote:what freedom, exactly? what do you wish to do now that you can't do?pyrale wrote:In other words, the new system has completely failed at him.Kaios wrote:You have completely failed at the new system.

I don't think the majority of the people are raging against the machine with the new changes, but the fact that remedial tasks give no LP at all is kind of daunting to someone wanting to build up their claim but also progress their character.

I have tried since the server came back online for world 5. And it's terrible. I've gotten very little ground. Someone earlier stated the new system means you don't have to play 24/7 anymore; I find the opposite to be true. I used to play 2-4 hrs a day depending, and now after playing 5-6 a day with w5 since it has started, I've gotten relatively nowhere, whilst making cow cone after cow cone etc. It's not necessarily it being hard to lvl up; I found the old system was difficult for me to do that. And in the new one it is possible. It's just the new system a)moves at a much slower pace, and b) it's just plain boring and stupid. I don't want to make 100> cow cones so I can get to a high enough level just to make a house. And since you presumably need to lvl up to get/find better curioisities, it makes for a slow irritating game for me. Maybe Haba has had a decent time with it, but some of us haven't, especially those who have a busy schedule and can't play all the time to keep studying and farming curiosities.
On that note, me and 6 of my other friends who played the game together will no longer be playing. The new system is just not enjoyable; I want to be actively involved in the growth of my character, not just passively loading another curiosity in when the other one is done.

uh maybe you should try studying something other than the worst curiosity
p.s. you only need lumberjacking and carpentry to build a house, easily obtainable with the initial discovery bootstrap LP

Yeah yeah super easy, so I took all day without gaining lp and not do anything but wait for the Curiosities, because I can not do anything else because I have no skills.sabinati wrote:uh maybe you should try studying something other than the worst curiosity

This system is absurd and boring

Re: Game Development: World 5
Let's see, what would I be doing. Well by day 2 I would have most of the basic skills and yeo so that now that my explor is up to 15 or so I'd have been collecting hides and foragables. This after locating a medicore resource of some kind 50ish. I would have probably 3-4 cabins build and an outline of my pally. I would been doing all this wide array of things and building my character at the same time as I lay out my temporary settlement. Instead, I've built a cabin after finding a pathetic resource on 8 throwaway alts because , well, there's just no resources. Ive spent these 2 days standing mostly, as doing anything with the basic skills is not productive. In egtween standing, there's looking for dandys, ladybugs, raiding ant hills (interestingly something ive never ever done in any world, looking for blueberrys and waiting for study to give very small lp (like a total of 3k for a 24 hour period) because im still waiting onwishbone and cat gold to tick out. Now when i finally do get yeo which I guess may be today, I will then begin saving for leather working so i can tan the few furs ive saved (no use in finding a bunch as they'll just get nicked until you have yeo.) That'll take half a day tomorrow i guess, maybe by the next day i may could then create a backpack. Then I guess i can finally begin to save lp to apply towards some skills (were 4 days from now) maybe take a couple days to get explore to 15? as well as survival to make better tools for a doll thats worth the tick time (jeez cant even believe i'm saying this as just the thought is making me depressed..lol)sabinati wrote: what freedom, exactly? what do you wish to do now that you can't do?
As far as village, I guess that may be the undoing of 2 years of time because if this is any indication (could be could be not) a small party of 3-5 people will never be able to make any authority tokeep an idol going which i suppose would = the final nail in that coffin. But hopefully not as I trully don't even want to think about actually really having to give up. We'll just have to see i guess..either way. it's been more of a tedious grind than Ive ever experienced in all 4 worlds. And I feel not an ounce of productivity or acomplishment. MAybe that'll change later on, all I can do is see.

How come I have claim, crops and all the basic gear? Only 13 exploration, though :/
