You don't much farther ahead of anyone else by botting those things. The labor involved in the simple building of those things is trivial to anyone.

I would never trust a bot to do wall building for me.

The important point is that it's labour you don't have to do. And again, your game is *all* about how much labour you can produce.
edit @ after : Planning can be done by humans. However, I think such trivial things as mine supports don't need a human overseer, as they follow a simple pattern (just as serpentine was a simple pattern).

That is to say, planning -- something a bot is very poor at doing -- is what's important when building stuff. Assuming we remove serpentine mining completely, bots would have to plan mining supports if they are to mine.

It's not about how much mindless "labor" you can produce, no. It has to be directed and meaningful.pyrale wrote:As was mining trivial.

Re: Game Development: World 5
I still say that this solution (world5) is not good. It's even worse then was before. Maybe not about botters but fun of game dropped drasticaly. I'm logging in now every hour just to change curios and maybe leather in tanning tubs and that is it. No more fishes around me, all trees were striped of bark, it's almost hard to get branches now, all ant hill are raided already, no rabbits.jorb wrote:Maximizing LP gain by using a bot to switch in curios might mean that you work through a couple of extra curios/unit of time. This quite something different from being able to gain 1 million LP per day by having a bot doing serpentine mining for you 24/7.
The real upside of this system, however, is that it removes the poor incentive of being rewarded for digging a hole and then being rewarded again for filling it back in. The fact that it also makes botting less profitable is merely an upside -- albeit an important one.

Some of it, but far from all of it.jorb wrote:It's not about how much mindless "labor" you can produce, no. It has to be directed and meaningful.pyrale wrote:As was mining trivial.

Build wall/palis ? Trivial.
Build houses ? Trivial.
Harvest fields ? Trivial.
Replant them with highest Q seeds ? just needs a bit of coding, nothing too complicated.
Basically, every in-village action is trivial or easy. And guess what ? Some of those actions are very valued (remind the massive trades on bricks/linen last version ?).
The only hard actions left are the ones that involves PvP/business, and a few actions such as hunting that will take a bit longer to code.
Now okay, I didn't remove the human contribution. But with this a group of 2-3 people will produce more goods than a group of 20.

Never. This threead is intolerable and I want to keep the garbage in one place.harushu wrote:LMAO.. ok so having kept up with this entire 138 page thread I see a pattern.....
people come on and complain about the new world and beg for the old one back, people then point out to the complainers the good things about the game, complainers get upset and complain more about the people that like the game, people that like the game complain about the complainers, then jorb will get on say how he likes the game and that everyone can pretty much piss off (no he did not use these exact words.. just paraphrasing for my point) so this should be the end of it becuase the developer has just said he likes his game where it is and is not changing it back.
But nope, the above mentioned happens again over and over lol I find this very funny. The best part is people just keep repeating the same crap over and over again.. well except for most recently the topic has switched over to not why the game is bad, but why the server is bad or good, and people go back and forth about that lol
So Jorb and Loftar I just want to know.. how long you gonna let this thread get before you just lock it??

Re: Game Development: World 5
You aren't arguing against this system, though. You are arguing that the game can be botted and that there are potential advantages to doing so, something that I don't think anyone has ever denied. You are not refuting the central point I am trying to make, namely that botting an important aspect of the game is significantly less meaningful under the new system.pyrale wrote:stuff

Huh?..what?...oh it's you. When have you not had a "good group". I wasn't aware there was a time when you didn't? And I have already congradulated you ya know. Not sure what else you need as far as "Satisfaction". Since I already said the coup de tat was amazing. Just think , that "practiced good group" now has the mechanics in place to never even be challenged by another bot-group in the same way...I agree, it's no longer a bot/macro war between your faction groups to interfere in your role play merchant monoploly..lol, but nothing really changes aside from your group not having to cheat as much to combat the other group's cheating because now cheating in those ways is kinda moot. Your rises will be slower but the end will still be the same. Just a tad sad that it had to ruin the game for solos, small groups and communties just so you guys didn't have to "cheat and bot" as much to keep up with each other in the faction war. But the war will still be there, and they have "big practiced groups" too. YOu just screwed 85% of the players though to change the way your faction wars reach their endgame but the end game is still the same...only the way to reach it has changed.Potjeh wrote:Nah, I don't expect her to hear anything I say, I'm just using an opportunity to brag about having a good group
Again, congrats, it IS a lot easier for your type of gameplay now. The whole point though was that only 10-15% MAX of the playerbase was "about" that kind of gameplay.
