like i said, there are problems with it. but using alts and ants is pretty broken, wouldn't you agree?novaalpha wrote:It doesn't and it pretty much kills teamwork.kLauE wrote:this sounds good.sabinati wrote:maybe it should only gain you attack and defense against that opponent? much like they changed how initiative works

I agree with both Sabinate, and Nova, as for the OP...
"These skills have no legit purpose in the current combat system other than in fights with people significantly weaker than yourself."
Please... you are suggesting that two people with even stats, one using dodge, the other the full list of maneuvers... and he will have no advantage?

They are broken skills. Their primary purpose is to help you against opponents weaker than you. if you have 2 people with the same stats, there is no issue. If you have a weak guy against a strong guy. the strong guy gets huge benifits, while the weak guy gets practically nothing. maybe they wanted it like that. but because of the way it works right now, you can use noobs.Valten21 wrote:I agree with both Sabinate, and Nova, as for the OP...

I agree that it's currently broken. But in this "evenly matched" theory, using the right maneuvers will certainly help you beat the other person.DeadlyPencil wrote:They are broken skills. If you read the OP, or even just the subject, you will see he is only commenting about Bloodlust and Oak Stance, not the "full list of maneuvers".Valten21 wrote:I agree with both Sabinate, and Nova, as for the OP...

Let's see, what maneuvers we have besides those two... Combat Meditation - useless, except for VERY special cases. Shield - default maneuver for shield-wielders. Dodge - default maneuver for those without shields. Death or Glory - fast IP gain.Onionfighter wrote: If you read the OP, or even just the subject, you will see he is only commenting about Bloodlust and Oak Stance, not the "full list of maneuvers".
So, that leaves us with 1 (one) maneuver that is not either "needs fixing as stated by OP", default, or useless.

combat meditation and death or glory dont work with noobs to my knowledge or at least not well enough for a person to bother bringing a noob. combat mediation seems to only affect stuff you do against the person that triggered it. i had a noob jump me, then i attacked my brother, no cooldown reduction. instead jumped the noob, and it had the reduction.
death or glory is a non issue because u have to use the LP on the noob. however you could flex him or something to get your attack bar up quicker. but you could pre-IP an ally and do the exact same instead of having a noob.
so its only bloodlust and oak that are issues.

Re: Bloodlust & Oak Stance etc needs fixing or removing
What if, Bloodlust was removed altogether, since there's already plenty of moves to regain attack bar..
And Oak stance was changed:
The rate at which you replenish defense bar from attack bar, on opponent's moves is inversed to the current situation:
So, instead of gaining huge benefits from battling a inferior foe (/alt), you will get better defense regain when battling a more powerful foe than you.
It kinda fits with the Oak Stance IMO. If you look at for instance win chun kungfu, one of the basic ideas behind that is to 'stand like a tree'. I think win chun even literally translates to tree stance.
This enables smaller, less strong warriors trained in this way, to be able to defeat foes much stronger and bigger than themselves. Sorry, realism argument
As for how it would affect the game, I think it would solve the OP's problem with using noob alts.
It might also just give somewhat lower level characters a chance to beat a higher level character, with cunning use of techniques, which I think adds to the gameplay value. More influence of player skill vs character skills is not a bad thing.
The stronger character would still keep the advantage of his higher skills though I do think, as it should, but to a somewhat lesser extent as it is now.
