This is going to sound dumb i'm sure because you could say the same about real life currency. "i don't get money, what are we suppose to do, burn it for warmth"?

But i don't get coins in H&H, they sound useless and nobody uses them. Best case scenario once you get enough you can make a bar of that metal. Can you even split stacks?

Stacks of coins can be Split into two stacks by right-clicking the pile of coins, and specifying how many coins to remove.

coins wont work. i ran worlds end in world 3, a town meant to be the largest currency run town in existence. and i tell you, with all the difference in q and the annoyingly hard maintainability of coins nobody will use them. the best we got is points system on the forum. and thats where it will stay at.

Gold and silver don't have a quality.

I think the only metals it would work for would be gold and silver. Considering their rareness I'm sure everyone wants gold and silver but only a few people will have them, thus causing people to want to trade for them, but on the other side the people who have them won't be willing to trade an entire nugget or bar so breaking them down into even smaller fractions could be more ideal for them. Than of course over time those coins will either be traded again or enough would be gathered by someone and reproduced into a nugget/bar and used.

Of course this entire scenario is completely dependent upon the players. :)

and they were bronze coins. i think bronze is even better for coins now because if you have more coins than you want you can turn it in to a bronze steed and put it in your brain for LP

the only problems with coins are the small logistical annoyances
