Can you build on forest tiles? I originally planned on claiming a forest area, but decided on grassland when someone said they were only able to build on that tile-type. Or do I just need the pave the area first?

Doesn't seem like I can pave forest tiles, or plant grass on them.

You must first break the ground by plowing.
Surprise.

I think claims should degrade like houses in Ultima Online. Maybe with some action necessary on the part of non-owners (vandalise the claim pole once a day for 7 days without the owner fixing it).

I also think someone needs to do the right thing and communalise an iron mine close to the RoB (claim land such that the 5-tile exclusion zone covers the mine, so that everyone can access and no-one can claim it). I'm sure the community would be prepared to pay a generous rent in kind if they did.
