Title says it all really, it's just harsh that someone can be summoned for the crime of simply stealing something.
Most of the items in this game are kept behind a fence/wall anyway.
If someone temporarily puts up a claim around e.g. some crops, if someone comes along and steals some they shouldn't be able to be summoned.

Re: Summoning for theft is too harsh
Haven and Hearth does not impose it's beliefs of justice onto the player base.
If you make the choice to steal it offers the 'ranger' or 'justice man' the full panel of options that he may exercise, including death.
I think death is rather fitting in most cases.

Re: Summoning for theft is too harsh
In all honesty, death for theft is really fair. Most people who will steal are behind a pallisade at least anyways, so you won't go to the extreme of sieging them over something minor only if they steal alot. Also, i dont want thieves running around rampant because we cant do anything about itShask wrote:Title says it all really, it's just harsh that someone can be summoned for the crime of simply stealing something.

I don't agree that theft shouldn't be a summonable offense but I do think there needs to be more minor acts of criminal activity that you maybe can't get summoned for but are still bad enough to warrant someone tracking you.
Perhaps this way the world would be a little less farmville and a little more fun

Re: Summoning for theft is too harsh
If anything, I think the distinction between summonable and non-summonable scents, or perhaps rather summonable scents as such, is the only deficiancy in the scent system, because it does actually impose values onto players. My original vision with scents was that they were pure clues as to what had happened at the scene of a crime, and that punishment could be meted out independently of them. I would like it more, therefore, if summoning were independent of scents. I don't actually have any concrete ideas for such a system which wouldn't suck in various ways, however; which is of course why scents still let you summon people.

Taking items off trees needs to be, for the same reasons.sabinati wrote:harvesting crops off claimed land is vandalism :v

I think you should have something like 20 theft scents in your inventory (which are used up) to summon so it only works when someone steals alot

Re: Summoning for theft is too harsh
you can always choose not to steal if you feel its too harsh.
i could start arguing how its unfair or it should be harsher in my personal opinion, if you want.
after all it is up to devs decision on balance of system intervention, not how you personally feel about each crime.
