Why would they do that? I really think most players still don't understand what they are doing here. Jorb and Loftar develop a game for their personal enjoyment. They allow you to play their game for testing. Developing Hnh is their hobby and we are the test slaves that are "dumb" enough to do this because they released a pretty special game here.
And tests are for what? For developing, making game better. Like I said, I understand I am a slave here and I respect that, but they released the game for everyone and I want to be respected as a tester here too. I am doing this, cus some day maybe I'll be playing hnh beta release

They have lives, accept the fact that they may go 10 years without updates, as they've stated somewhere (man I don't feel like digging it up), if you're that bothered by it go ahead and make a similar game. Want cowboys? Go make a cowboy HnH, go for it. I 'think' (I don't know the legal mumbo jumbo) you can even use the client as long as you make your own server side code to go with it.
Some have tried, so far all have failed (or stopped), so for now just have to deal with the fact that while JnL(and Kaka?) 'could' get someone else to join in and do the boring small shit that he doesn't want to "Yeah that needs to be fixed" . . . 2 years later, have some guy do it. However, it seems they're not at that point yet and will still do it all themselves, maybe forever, who knows!
