What is the rationale behind the recent unannounced nerf of punch?

According to resource file it now does 0.75 of damage it done before.

Punch damage was never the issue, it's the cooldown.

was this changed just now? or awhile ago?

IMO they should have also put the weight down. that would make melee stronger.
