This world wasn't safe from begining, so unless you have brick wall, hf in house and someone to check walls every 12 hours, you can be doomed.

I agree with some other poster's here...walls (not just a fence) are much more important than timber houses.

Generally speaking people won't build a ram to hit a poor hermit camp. That being said, one of the palibash raiders may.
