"Are you Russian?"

So me and a couple of my buddies even noobier than myself were going on an expedition to the north. We decided having come across a large river to make a boat and row our way up as it would be a lot quicker.

Shortly after starting this project some masked man appeared in a boat and asked us if we were Russian, being a European gaming community of many nationalities we said no, although Russians are amongst us. So we managed to finish one of the boats and I went to pick up one of my other friends who had rather ridiculously accidentally pressed the teleport to hearthfire button ( ). Five minutes later 2 guys appear from nowhere and murder my friends after knocking them unconcsious and telling them not to come here again.

Who operates like this?
I am interested to know.

Was it Russians who attacked us because we are not Russian?
Was it someone else who attacked us because they did not believe us?

It is impossible to tell? I am not sure on the exact location but it would be mostly north east quite a ways from the initial noob spawn.

Anyway thanks for any insight any of you may give me. Sucks pretty hard though that people feel the need to randomly kill with no warning. We would have been more than happy to move on and never return with a warning. It is not like those two had anything worth taking either. They literally started tonight. I guess they learned a valuable lesson though

Well... the justice system is fucked up beyond repair in this world. He only asked if you was russian because he knew if he killed you, the RUA would most likely come after them if you went for there help on the RU forums IMO.

I'm Russian, and proud of it. But I have a lot of kins, and I've never differ my pals based on their nationality .

Here, the real origins of xenophobia of russian mateys:

1) 95% of those haters of western players are just pathetic schoolboys, while other 5% is just dumbasses
2) Poor English makes international communication difficult. This leads to isolationist moods among russians, those moods leads to xenophobia.

Remember, when you got asked like "Are you Russian?", and then got killed, then you've met a frustrated by his life schoolboy.
Adequate russians will try to establish a friendship between him and you. We are very hospitable nation.

Moreover. There were 2 more same posts from westerneers in our forum the same week. I tried to talk to you guys in every one, but did not get any answer.

Perhaps you guys are too arrogant to talk. You imagine something like "We will come here, they will kiss us, and we will make PEACE", and when you just get a normal attention, without love and hate - you turned up your nose and run away.

I think most people could care less what nationality you are. At this point the russian alliance, taar, or w/e they're called now (they need a name because the name russian alliance kind of inspires alot of people to dislike russians when it shouldnt) is kind of attacking every one (according to seraphimos/voedoo) anyone who isnt russian. Likely coincidental since a lot of their faction is made up of russians for language purposes so they attack them because they are being a hostile faction w/e. A lot of people take that out of context and assume its racism when it's probably not (i obviously can't speak on their behalf so i have no idea). On the other hand, the russian alliance now thinks people are racists for not liking their faction which is killing everyone o.o. This is what ive understood from this war, its getting a little out of hand =\

Yep I have no problem with Russian types most of the time. As said we have a bunch of them in our clan and they provide some of the best competition in Warband the game we play the most.
