Local game server

Post by matt3206 »

So I woud like to host a local server, so a group of friends and I can play. Reason being is that we will be somewhere where the internet is not readily available, or is insufficent to connect to the main server.

Is there anything like this avalible, and if so how would I modify the game client to connect to the local server as opposed to the main server.

Thank you for any help with this

Best that could happen is if someone finally gets an emulator up and running. There's been several people say they're going to try, but then we hear nothing from them after a month or two.

This isn't Minecraft. It's an MMO.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

I don't have much time atm to write some code and I'm still waiting to get some good ideas how to make some certain parts. I usually get them spontaniously and not by forcing them.

Other option was for devs to give us compiled version of server versions so we could run them by ourselves, but they didn't like the idea so there is nothing we can do but wait for them to finish salem and hope they will return to develop Hnh further.

I know this isn't the same, but if you really want to get some Haven & Hearth fix, this game is very similar and you can host it yourself and everything, so you could play it alone, with friends, etc even without Internet access.

I used to play Archipelago way back in the day before finding H&H and it was always fun, though the things it's lacking make it rather boring: No randomly generated maps. Lack of good number of creatures. It's also a good bit easier than H&H, but you could still play for a week straight with your friends and find stuff to occupy yourselves the whole time.

Byond also has a whole slew of other games you could try out instead and maybe you'll find something to keep you and your friends from going crazy.
