Arresting!!
A new method to stop those dirty criminals!!
new item handcuffs any hard metal bar X 2
with hp value (like armor)
when you knock out an oponnent you can use the handcuffs to arrest him
what happens when you arrest someone?
1) the speed of the handcuffed hearthling is reduced to crawl and no actions can be taken (except trying to break free)
2) the handcuffed hearthling cannot attack or teleport while handcuffed, if he logs out the hearthling remains, if he was on a party he leaves the party and cannot join again, he stil can chat though
3) the one who arrested him can use the command "search" to open that guy's inventory
4) he can try to "break free" every attemp gives dmg to the handcuffs with a soak (like palibashing) if the str is 3x the q of the handcuffs he has a chance of breaking free, droping the handcuffs to the ground (damage also applies in this attempt)
5) there is a cooldown in breaking free attemps
6) while handcuffed anyone can use hold on him, that inmovilizes both hearthlings until the one who is holding moves
7) if a hearthling is on-hold the str of the one who holds is sustracted from the prisioner values in breaking free attempts
8) while handcuffed it's shp doesn't regenerate to more than 10
9) another command to someone handcuffed is "knockout" that only hits shp and knocks him to the ground
10) the last command is "free" it takes of the handcuffs and frees the prisioner wether he's standing or knocked in the ground
11) every 3 attemps to break free have a chance to make 0-2 dmg to the handcuffs even if the strenght is not enough
this way if you're not strong enough you wont be handcuffed forever

Re: Stop right there criminal scum!!
isnt this the same as the human bondage idea, except with handuffs?
really i dont see the point in being able to capture your opponent, i mean it'd be great to drag them around boasting about it, but they would become a cosmetic at first, but the longer you hold them the more chance thye break might, so you cant let them into your town because they could break loose and do who knows what. and its not like you'd get info out of them
tl;dr its a nice idea, but not to much of a point/suggested before except useing a different material

Re: Stop right there criminal scum!!
I don't like the idea of the leash and carrying him around
but if you knock someone to the ground there isn't much to do with him but to kill him or let him go
with this you don't drag him or make him prisioner in a dungeon to satisfy your desires
you arrest him and loot him, or you can interrogate him
with this you can win and let him go without killing but with his loot
any ideas like public stone trowing
luring a bear to your victim
dressing him with linen clothes
or using him as fighting practice for yout newbies are things possible but that's your flavor if you like it

well that would at least give some semblance of control over him at your method he is free to walk at crawl speedLordJorge wrote:I don't like the idea of the leash and carrying him around
im not sure if you mean; "you dont; <you can> drag him... or you you dont drag him <like with the other idea. but im assuming #1 tell me though once you ko and loot him, what else do you want from him why take him a potential threat around with you only to let go..LordJorge wrote:but if you knock someone to the ground there isn't much to do with him but to kill him or let him go

interrogation doesnt work, sure, IF that person is so self centered they would give away info just for there own life, how many people would actually let them live, i know i wouldnt, i'd teach him for betraying his kin.LordJorge wrote:you arrest him and loot him, or you can interrogate him

you can loot and let go anyway, once you are ko'd and "naked" after a fight, if you are given the chance to leave you sure aas hell are not going to stick around.
you can do all that already, and what is so good about dressing them in linen anyway lolLordJorge wrote: any ideas like public stone trowing

Yes I dont want to picture a skill for humilliation neither imprisionmentninja_yodeler wrote:well that would at least give some semblance of control over him at your method he is free to walk at crawl speed
he can walk at crawl speed if he's not being holded this idea is more open, not instant petlike but a way to keep him alive and talking without him being an inminent threat when he wakes up this give you control but not dominion
It's an alternative, with this he can still talk, insult, beg for mercy, gamble for his life. Again it's not intended for leading him into your town and show off to everyoneninja_yodeler wrote:what else do you want from him why take him a potential threat around with you only to let go..
You just captured someone from an enemy village, you can keep him on hold maybe he's asking help from it's village (they can choose to help or leave him to it's luck) maybe negotiate some items for it's life, or a group or warriors in a bold rescue every option has it's own risks.
Yeah YOU, but not everyone is like YOU. What if you capture a guy, he asks his village for help and they abandon him he could take it as a warrior or get angry at them and give info for revenge. fear, sadness, anger, threatening and mercy are not stats; and may vary for everyone you cannot say it won't work because YOU wont use it.ninja_yodeler wrote:interrogation doesnt work, sure, IF that person is so self centered they would give away info just for there own life, how many people would actually let them live, i know i wouldnt, i'd teach him for betraying his kin.

Also killing someone for betraying his kin, you just made a story there proving that flavor could be added with this.
What about a group of bandits knocking out people and stealing their stuff then letting em go, no murder involved... yet
HAHAHA No you can'tninja_yodeler wrote:you can do all that already, and what is so good about dressing them in linen anyway lol

Re: Stop right there criminal scum!!
lol, yeah, for some people you might, but they are either great lars and tell you the wrong info, or self centerd people who care more about there own char, and would ruin their whole villages game. just to livemvgulik wrote:Think you can ... just needs a little finesse and a little patience.ninja_yodeler wrote:its not like you'd get info out of them![]()

i do see what you are saying but think about it, im not sure how much fighting you do, but judging by your post your not the most experienced. if you ko someone and are in a position to to apply these handcuffs. stop and think. take his weapons and armor. take his water. if you keep him aggro-locked in place, its not like someone who was just ko'd by you and let live is going to have another crack after you proving your better. if they run, they have no water, you do, and they have extrememly low shp from the ko, they could ko from thorn in foot if they run lol, so they cant really do anything. thus= control, not dominion .LordJorge wrote: ninja_yodeler wrote:well that would at least give some semblance of control over him at your method he is free to walk at crawl speed

"^^^ that also answers your next few arguments"
that happens quite regularly. ko someone, take stuff, wait for them to rebuild do it again.LordJorge wrote: Also killing someone for betraying his kin, you just made a story there proving that flavor could be added with this.

or you provoke someone into attacking you while dressed poorly and "alone" then when they leave scents of assult or whatever you come out and bash them, kill or not kill, then track to village, bingo you have a target and can justify this with having scents.
err, what and how cant you do that?LordJorge wrote:HAHAHA No you can't
public stone throwing, bring along some friends and use shitty slings on him. dealing only little amounts of damage at a time
if he runs you just chase him down and ko. remember, he has not water or anything to out run him, you just have to be smart.
dress in linen. thats easy, but im not so sure why you would.
lure a bear; yep. done many times, ask reddell.
fighting practice; you can do that if you are smart and can stop him if/when he ko's your nabs.
Also, im not finding flaws. they are just presenting themselves to me, others will find different ones, you beign the maker of this thread wont find any, and when you do you will be to proud to admit it and keep defending yourself with silly things until you give up and let it sink.
/sprry for wall text, it honestly dosnt seem so much when i type

Re: Stop right there criminal scum!!
Maybe there can be an "interrogate" function, which while the criminal is wearing the cuffs, you can beat info, or in this case, special scents, off of them regarding the location of their HF, their claim marker, or village idol location, and can use them to track down their HF, claim, or village, and enact "justice." However, whenever you interrogate, your strength*int must beat their con*int by so much, and each blow deals SHP damage, with a small chance of dealing HHP damage. It could result in accidentally knocking out, or even killing them while interrogating them.LordJorge wrote:you arrest him and loot him, or you can interrogate him
Another cool idea would be is if someone is holding them, like in the original idea, if the cuffed individual has high agi, he has a chance to evade an interrogation blow and make the interrogator accidentally hit the hearthling holding the criminal. Also, I figure dex could factor into cuff escape as well.
