Hey there,
When I open my Inventory the game crashes and i get an error message.
There is some stuff inside and an item (i think it was a cone) only shown as a questionmark.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem because i cant do anything without inventory .
greetings

Re: Game crashs when i open the Inventory
There's a difference between crashing and hanging at times. Crashing usually implies it shuts down unexpectedly (sometimes taking the whole system with it). Hanging implies the program has become unresponsive, sometimes needing to be shut down, other times, the program will start responding again.DDA wrote:Hey there,

The game loads all graphics from the server just like a web page. You're client is waiting on server response and is just hanging for a bit. It can actually take a minute or two for the items to load. It will likely be doing the same thing if you open any other container, too. Give it a couple of minutes. If you can start moving around again, you're fine. Just give the client time to load the objects.

I don't really think you get an error message when the game's loading something, and just some load time wouldn't prevent you from using the inventory at all.DDA wrote:Hey there,

You can get error messages without crashes. You'd be surprised at the error's I've seen when the client is trying to load and there's a real bug in the client. (Been a while since I've seen one... was just shortly after w5 started and was an error displaying the male avatars.) Programs don't display error messages unless the programmer tells them to. In the case of HnH, they get dumped to the console (which most people don't leave open) unless it's an error that crashes Java, in which case Java gives an error message. Some people do leave the console open and read the error messages, though. Think before you speak. I was trying to provide the best advice with the information given and try to get more. I certainly didn't see you provide anything more helpful.VDZ wrote: I don't really think you get an error message when the game's loading something, and just some load time wouldn't prevent you from using the inventory at all.
From my experience, any inventory space is unusable until it loads on the server. Cupboards filled up (64 unique items) are the worst. It's most noticeable at start up if you have a large variety of items on screen as well as in the container you are trying to open, especially if the system is being exceptionally laggy. Note that is the inventory information out of the database, and not the graphic or tooltips for the item. I've never gotten (or heard of) a crash when trying to move ? items between containers before using the shortcuts, but I don't recall trying to pick an item up to the cursor, either, when items aren't shown.
Back to the OP: You need to post the error so people know where to look for the problem or be able to make suggestions to fix it. Also posting your OS, version, Java version (build number), video card and drivers, what client you're using, etc. also may be necessary. Without those, all anyone can do is make generalizations on what the game is doing. A better description of exactly what you were trying to do, how long you were playing, etc. will also be helpful. I should have stated that originally, also.
Let me correct my original post:

It can actually take a minute or two for the items to load. Are you attempting to do anything while the container is loading? Is the client crashing as soon as you try to open the container or after several moments?

Re: Game crashs when i open the Inventory
I'm having the same problem, and it seems to be happening with a few items. First, I picked up a rooster and a few feathers, and when I opened inventory, game froze. I came back in, quickly dropped the rooster and feathers (which displayed like question marks on the inv) and the game stopped crashing when I opened inventory, but then, when I was harvesting wheat, my char froze again, and I'm not being able to log in and staying on for more than three seconds before the game automatically closes.. anyone knows what the heck is going on?
