Thanks to those who have voted so far on the first law. As per the Oaths, it remains tabled until 14 days have lapsed. In the meanwhile, there remains many more laws to be tabled for your consideration! The second one has now been posted on the Law thread. Just so that you all know.
As there are now two laws being considered, I ask that you precede your 'AYE' or 'NAY' with which law your vote pertains to.
Regards,

Re: Brodgar!
I am sure some of you have already experienced this problem. If you didn't, then you will at some point.
You just finished trading with someone at the RoB, but lo and behold you cannot return to your hearth fire. You need a bed to rest in.
I present you plans for Brodgar Hotel [working title].

Brodgar Hotel is a cabin or complex on a claimed area with beds inside.
The hotel will be run by an alt character which upon payment (weekly) will add you to his kin to allow you to enter the claimed hotel.
Once paid you have unlimited access to all the beds available. This makes trading at the RoB easier but also secures your safe return.
The price can be low as there will be plenty of interest and maintenance is low.
Why weekly?

- Most people login atleast once a week.
Daily would require alot of work for the hotel keeper.
There are no containers that are secure that you can deposit in.
The ones who see things differently.
You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them.
And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.

Re: Brodgar!
I applaud this development.
What pay will be requested?
Will town members be permitted to stay at a reduced rate?
Is there a Mini-bar?

Surprise.

Re: Brodgar!
it should cost coins to stay there, because then maybe more towns and villages with mines will begin to introduce coins as a trading currency

That's all well and good, and I am for the adoption of coinage... but it'll be tough for some to acquire coins. We would need a moneychanger who's willing to buy pretty much anything. Plus a secure place to store the money, I suppose.TheJohan wrote:it should cost coins to stay there, because then maybe more towns and villages with mines will begin to introduce coins as a trading currency

Re: Brodgar!
The only problem is coins will be too high in value until Brodgar gets thousands upon thousands into circulation. Also, can you drop just one coin, or are they still stuck in stacks of 100?

Right clicking allows you to divide the stacks.Fluffy wrote:The only problem is coins will be too high in value until Brodgar gets thousands upon thousands into circulation. Also, can you drop just one coin, or are they still stuck in stacks of 100?

As noted, yes brodgar is attempting to stimulate the economy by paying in metal.Peter wrote:That's all well and good, and I am for the adoption of coinage... but it'll be tough for some to acquire coins. At this point however the majority of our customers are requesting we hold on to their payment until it's enough to pay in a bar directly.
I'm toying with the idea of refusing to do so, which will put more coins into the world and out of our vaults which is good for business.
As for money changing, Brodgar has a pretty big shopping list, Cloth, Tea, Food, Wood, Wrought, Steel, Bricks. If you have anything of considerable worth and want to trade it for some coins PM me and brodgar may buy it. It's unlikely that the city will pay for trash like snuff, wool, bones or twigs though.
If you've got butter consider trying one of our numerous bakers, I'm sure they'd pay a pretty penny for a convenient supply
EDIT:
I should be specific there, I mean toying with the idea of paying whatever we owe when the transaction happens, as opposed to refusing to pay in bars at all. We will continue to pay 100 coins with a bar of equal or lower quality
