But, if the game server was correctly shutdown, the server could know it.
Let's says it's 00:00. Time for server to reboot. The script would shutdown the game server properly, and then creat an empty file named "correctShutDown", then launch the server "reboot" command.
Then the server reboot, and launch a script at startup which would check for this file.
If it exists (means, the server didn't crash, it was a clean reboot) then remove the file "correctShutDown" and start game server automatically, else, send a mail, sms, whatever to devs.

Still it isquite bad at the moment, no realisitic chance to win combat and stuff imo

No.

Why would anyone think that A) they turned the RAID off when they explicitly added it for redundancy and stability and B) Salem would be hosted on the same server as HnH? Could it be possible Loftar finally figured out how to get it to run without causing lag or that maybe the lag problems were caused by something else that got fixed?

Also, Salem is being published by Paradox games. HnH is a privately ran experiment that stays up by the good will of its developers. Salem will likely draw in thousands if not tens of thousands of players vs the 1500-2000 or so we had here at the peak of the server. Paradox likely has a data warehousing/IT group they have for Seatribe to work with for hosting Salem. Since nothing has been said explicitly about how or where Salem will be hosted, it's just a educated guess. Salem will likely need clusters just to run the game--not to mention what is needed for redundancy and file backups--vs HnH's single server (two if you count the web server).

ok, thanks for the long answer, i've got your point.

but the fact is - no more every 5 sec lag from remote raid mirroring.
may be it is fixed or may be it is turned off. lets hope for first.

Dunno, I was having a lot of lag today. Haven't noticed any difference.
