Plain wrong. The only things perpetrated under those banners are putches and coups. The historical end result of ideas like these has always, without exception, been widespread slaughter. Whether in France, Soviet Russia or Red China. The American revolution was a revolution -- in more than name -- precisely because it did not uphold these "ideals" but, on the complete contrary, sought to enshrine in constitutional form, by rule of law, their polar opposite: The protection of private property from the arbitrary confiscations and expropriations of the government in general, and the British Crown in particular.

Present to me one document, written by one Founding Father, that advocates these thoughts, and I shall stand corrected. No central document from the entire collected intellectual heritage of the thirteen colonies, or the early, pre-Mexican war, American republic -- The Federalist Papers, The Declaration of Independence, The Bill of Rights, the writings of Paine and Jefferson -- advocates this nonsense.
"The psychological trials of dwellers in the last times will be equal to the physical trials of the martyrs. In order to face these trials we must be living in a different world."

Our revolution continues the long tradition of the proletariat forever overthrowing the capitalist, the bourgeoisie; consider:

The Chinese overthrew the wealthy imperial family, in the same way we will overcome the clan of the wealthy.
The Soviets rose over the czars, who lived lives of luxury while the commoner froze.
The French gave us the very terms we use to describe our revolution. Like them, we will cast down those that suggest we would eat sausages, or cake, when we have no bread.
The very core of the American revolution was the struggle to keep what is rightfully everyone's out of the hands of those that would hoard it. Whether these people are a far distant king or the wealthy mine-owner is arbitrary.
Surprise.

Weren't the 13 colonies technically Crown's private property? To me it all looks like a case of tenants refusing to pay their rent.

So, you guys are justifying your gold lust with historical examples of people toppling various government regimes, and using this justification because they were wealthy? Just about every civilization's leaders have been wealthy. And the hearthlands don't even HAVE a leader.

You think that Gold should just give up his/her mine because gold suddenly became useful. In your basic concept, you're masking a severe case of goldlust with social uprising.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again; I don't want to be given gold; I am only a representative of the oppressed masses. Gold hoards his gold; once we have liberated it, we will distribute it fairly and equally. It is only natural that the most powerful and wealthy fear and loathe this happening, for they have the most to loose.

We must not let them tell us that this is an impossible dream- the only reason they chide us is fear that we will succeed! You ask, can we take this fair share of the fantastic wealth that is withheld from us every day? I, humble speaker of the people, tell you YES! YES WE CAN!

And that will be our rallying cry! Whenever we make our move, we will shout out the truth that they are afraid to acknowledge: YES! WE! CAN!

first of all, he's not hoarding it. he's trading it. secondly, if you "liberated" the gold mine, you would still have to do a shitload of mining to get the gold, which i seriously doubt you would just hand out to anyone that asked.

We need scythes in this game...

The labor of free peoples flows freely, and is not work but pleasure! In our joyous mining, we will gladly share the fruits of our labors, for we will produce more than enough for ourselves! We need not live under this auruaucracy! All we must do is take from the unfair, the unelected monarchs what is rightfully ours! YES! We can have this victory, this INEVITABLE victory!

Unlike the wealthy goldmasters, who will only deal with you if you can give them the tedious silk, or steel, we ask only that you be willing to do your part for the cause of glorious revolution. We ask all who are oppressed to rise up, and we always give the oppressors one chance to step down and number amongst the hard-working proletariat.
