Re: Sling bullets and pouch
poach should be on the belt , I am still relatively new and using the poor mans belt so it would be nice to have useful in place of it.

Re: Sling bullets and pouch
Maybe you can make sling ammo, one stone gives 10 "pebbles", and a pouch takes 100 pebbles. Crafting

Re: Sling bullets and pouch
I would love to be able to store my cellar stones in a cupboard, I think 25 would be more then enough stones per pouch if they only take up 1x1 inventory space. (also I think they should hold less or 'better' ammo not more, would encourage people not to use stones)

Re: Sling bullets and pouch
raw glass(glass shot): possible to add bleeding damage(similar to a thorn in the foot), chance of bleeding based on your perception. similar to minimum damage formula with a slight tweak-> 10(your perception/target agility) capped at 50%
so if you have 20 perception and your target has 10 agility you would have a 20% chance to cause bleeding
at 10 perception if your target has 100 agility, you'd have a 1% chance
at 100 perception if your target has less than 20 agility you'd have 50%(max) chance
bleeding damage would be based on damage done on the shot that causes the bleed(5% every 2-3 seconds) so q10 sling max damage of 60 gives 3 damage every few seconds, only 1 bleed at a time
not sure if we'd use raw glass or add an item made from raw glass called glass shot. it does 1/2-3/4 the damage of a normal shot to offset so its not overpowered.
the only thing I can't really figure out for this is how it would select whether to use glass or stone(or other shot type if added) if you have both in inventory...I wanted to figure out something before posting but I'm drawing a huge blank so I'll let you guys offer your input.

Re: Sling bullets and pouch
Couple things:
1: Nothing will go wrong for road building, you just will have to make less trips to the stone for stones.
2: Hardened clay would be... well pointless. The difference between hardened clay and stone is neglectable at best.
3: Metal has different weights making it more difficult to aim. Tin lighter, iron heavier. So you'd have to make aiming with a sling harder to compensate.
4: Glass would be pointless. Have you ever pelted someone with a marble before? It hurts, just about as much as any thrown object including a stone but unless you purposely make it hollow it wouldn't break thus no bleeding. Also glass is light even while solid, Aiming with a hollow glass ball would be like aiming with a dodge ball while using a catapult.
5: Slings are powerful enough as it is. Unless you want to nerf it so bears wont run from you after 1 or 2 hits then giving it more of an advantage wont do you any good.
6: A pouch would be nice, but when bears run after 1 or 2 hits there is no need for 100 shots on your belt unless you want to nerf the damage so you'll need 100 shots.
So your idea would need to nerf the sling completely. Harder aiming and less damage so you can use metal to shoot with. Oh yeah, lets do that.

2: hardened clay is very loose compared to most stone. It'd make a horrible sling bullet. (Not to mention density is low compared to metals.)JoeNightmare wrote:Couple things:
3: The word is "density." Weight is arbitrary based on gravity.
4: Depends on the glass on how hard it hits and whether it would break or not. Again, as you said, problem would be density and drag.
5: I'd say "good enough" instead of powerful enough. They're really only useful for hunting until you can get a bow with enough quality to start 1-shot killing boar and deer.
6: It'd be useful early game. Would that be enough to consider it? I see it being just like the seed bag, though: almost no one uses it.

Re: Sling bullets and pouch
You don't want a sharp stone for slinging, irregular shape leads to erratic flight path. Best sling shot is perfectly round. Which is why clay may actually be better than stone, it's easier to make into proper shape. Going by that I reckon clay shot would aim a bit faster but do less damage, so it'd be the perfect thing for distracting enemy archers.MagicManICT wrote:I'm not even sure iron is second preferred. Uhm, no, sling is vastly superior to woodbow because you can carry backpack and tsack with it.5: I'd say "good enough" instead of powerful enough. They're really only useful for hunting until you can get a bow with enough quality to start 1-shot killing boar and deer.

Ok, you got me there. I made the exact same point about ballistics earlier in my post.Potjeh wrote:You don't want a sharp stone for slinging, irregular shape leads to erratic flight path. That has always been debated. I'm on the sling side unless you have a great bow and exceptional perception (q60-80+ and 100-150+ respectively). Nothing says you can't have both on you: carry the pack and sack in inventory and carry the bow and quiver until you need the inventory space again (say after making a few kills hunting).Uhm, no, sling is vastly superior to woodbow because you can carry backpack and tsack with it.5: I'd say "good enough" instead of powerful enough. Am I the only one who's ever wanted to sling bricks at people?
