Let me tell my take on this story. Before I begin, lets call the owner of that place Jerry, for ease of communication.

So Jerry was enjoying his life, living in his little corner of Haven and Hearth, neglecting his unprotected cave entrance, the usual. One day Cletus comes over and notices Jerry has forgotten to seal is palisade cornerposts. Cletus was angry due to earlier being in a fight with his fellow villager, and decided to take out this aggression onto Jerry. Cletus extended the palisade around the gate, leaving Jerry helpless to get out. Jerry decided the only course of actions is to ram down his wall, and create a new gate. After ramming, he made one critical error in his planning: He made the distance between the two walls 3 tiles, instead of 2 or 4. This caused him to be unable to create a cornerpost in line with his original palisade, making him have to make a very elaborate wall to correct this issue, but nevertheless, he solved his problem.
