Quern on cave mouth/hearth fire:
How would a quern appear on the entrance to a cave and my hearth fire?

I'm not seeing anything unusual? Someone just dropped a quern in front of your cave entrance? Possibly they destroyed a hearthfire there and are doing that in hopes to hide scents from passerbys.

How can they destroy my hearthfire on a claim?

Vandalism, 25 strength, and a stone axe.
They most likely did this to take any valuables you had lying around your cave and to see if you had ore.

Hrmm, I thought for some reason that a hearthfire on your own claim couldn't be destroyed.

You and quite a few other people recently. It's likely someone spreading misinformation somewhere or a game of telephone. The only objects that cannot be destroyed with vandalism are village objects unless the village has run out of authority. Alternatively, if you don't have enough strength then you also cannot break things. There's also a special amendment for brick walls that you need to use a battering ram to break them.tericson wrote:Hrmm, I thought for some reason that a hearthfire on your own claim couldn't be destroyed.
If someone else's hearthfire is within your claim, you can destroy it without using vandalism as well.

Here there. If some did destroy your hearthfire, then they probably had left vandalism scents that you can track them either. However the question is if you are good at fighting to risk your life to track them.
He who becomes the slave of habit,
who follows the same routes every day,
who never changes pace,
who does not risk and change the color of his clothes,
who does not speak and does not experience, dies slowly.

querns are liftable, Adventure-> Lift. you can move it away from your cave and build a new hf there if you want. just remember anything short of a brickwall with very good archers inside won't stop anyone truely determined to get in.
