I was walking through the woods when suddenly a portrait appeared in the top right and I realized someone had used call down the thunder on me. I started fleeing but I didn't know from which direction because I couldn't see anybody else on my screen. I lagged out and unfortunately was murdered just for kicks apparently.
What I'm wondering is how did I get ambushed out of nowhere like that? I'm using EnderWiggin's client and my monitor is 1600x900. Despite approaching from the wide end of the screen he managed to locate, follow, identify, and click all the neccessary buttons to attack me before I could even see him. Is it merely a hardware advantage from having a much larger monitor or is there some kind of tool that does this?
I've seen pictures and heard that some villages have mods that they keep secret which do things like display a radar. I've played for about a month so I don't know if this is common or generally acknowledged. Probably as much as a week of progress was lost in the span of a minute and I feel like there was nothing I could do about it, aside from not play at all. Do other people regularly experience this?

Re: People targeter?
If you're using Enders make sure you have the scroll zooming feature enabled. At normal zoom there's still quite a bit of the "field of view" area that's rendered but not displayed. By zooming out you're able to see your entire viewable area on the screen at once.

Also when using enders, I prefer to keep things such as trees and rocks hidden while exploring so I get 0 unpleasant surprises and find objects that may be hiding behind them. You could also use X-ray if you prefer it but it is laggy to many people.

Do player models render much further than objects? I keep the camera far enough that I see objects pop. Is the distance the same for everyone?
Also, I do hide everything mostly because it seems to help my framerate.

Re: People targeter?
for what i know, the render is for everything, character includes. Is also true that often i see screenshot made with ender that are a lot bigger than my renderer, so wonder...how can they? Half of the screen of world 6 in that screen topic are almost double size of mine. Ok, the video resolution, plus the phisical video size, help a lot, but probably someone edited the render and....
Rumors talk about a pande-client. Prolly the render is fixed easily and god know what more.
Quite an unfair trick.

The Pande/KT client doesn't render anything anymore than any other client. it's sole real use in it's botting scripts.

Re: People targeter?
Because that's all the more data the server sends out to clients. HnH is served like web pages and the client can only display information it is told about. I'm sure someone could design something that would cache some of the older data for fixed location objects like trees and houses, but it wouldn't really provide anything more such as seeing animals or other players. (As it is, the server sends an 81x81 area, over 65% of a minimap.)

Re: People targeter?
but even zoomed all the way out you can see red circles from bears/boars even when you can't quite see them sometimes...great for hunting, something similar could possibly be used for hunting people also

The red circle from boars/bears is the actual boar/bear image. If you can see the circle then you can see the animal.
