Or even a motion detection, say if a bot sits there and does a single task for 2 long it simply gets booted for 5 minutes.

I do not see any bots that really "sits still" anymore these days.inventer110 wrote:Or even a motion detection, say if a bot sits there and does a single task for 2 long it simply gets booted for 5 minutes.

Re: Lp debate
well said, i hadn't thought of collective lp from multiple alts. but that would most definitely exceed the bot LP count mentioned before.Patchouli_Knowledge wrote:I probably should play the devil's advocate to actually present an opposing side to the curiosity system:
"The main problem I see with the curiosity system is its ease to make alts and one of the source of devaluation the usefulness of mains which itself devalues the impact of a permadeath system as you no longer put your eggs in one basket so each death is more like breaking a branch of a tree than cutting its trunk which somewhat defeats the purpose of the survival aspect. The lost of value of main itself presents a problem in its own right as it makes consequences of ones own action less severe. It is arguable if this raises the aggression of different factions but even if such conflict breaks out, wars will be fruitless as warriors can be manufactored easily and even if there are more conflicts appear on Congress, it will simply be trading casualties back and forth endlessly.
I'm not as certain if the curiosity system actually solved botting rather than diverting them to other field, particular farming and autoforaging. If anything, botting may actually be more feasible since due to the emphasis on alts in this world it gives a higher net LP gain total as oppose to world 4 and earlier (this case in account after animal and initial minig LP nerf. While you have to grind hours to get up to 1 million LP on those world. You can get 50% to 100% more than that spread across 5 characters. Bots are the perfect workers to gather materials to make such curiosities with little to no risk."
As for the diminished effect of the survival system, survival is what make a perma-death sandbox game exhilarating and fun.

Re: Lp debate
Someone take over for me, I've more or less lost interest in this thread and its ideas.
Please think through a solid idea before trying to spark a debate like this or it will degrade into a yelling fit as it has.
As per the macro checker, what stops the bot from just attempting to login again? Do you temp lock the account and ban it? Not that afking is Ever a good idea in a perma death game but now it's so much worse. Goodness help you if you're not watching the chat bar and just going about your business. Don't dare even suggest making it a pop up.

I see patch's (calling u patch cause i cant spell at 5am) point, but i'd bring up the point that now at least it's not just big factions or smart coders who have access to getting LP while not actually at their computer (not 100% when arksu's was released publicly, but i definitely know not everyone used it) . I think it levels the playing field at least. Though the alts are a problem (not that you couldn't grind them with multiple bots running mind you, theres even a button to freeze graphics on the client so you can run a lot of clients simultaneously).

Re: Lp debate
Erm, you realize that you don't even need to run the client to multi-client bot, right? Bots don't need graphics and sounds and cues, they can detect things on their own. You can bot 20 some odd empty clients for the same that it would take to run a single normal client.inventer110 wrote:well said, i hadn't thought of collective lp from multiple alts. but that would most definitely exceed the bot LP count mentioned before.

Hell, even I multi-client to do tasks on my old laptop without a problem. Goodness help you if you use a decent computer to run the bots. When you're looking for the upward areas for exploiting lp, neither system is for the better.

Re: Lp debate
why doesn't the game block having more than 2 characters from being in play at any given point in time. that would cut down on bots significantly.bmjclark wrote:I see patch's (calling u patch cause i cant spell at 5am) point, but i'd bring up the point that now at least it's not just big factions or smart coders who have access to getting LP while not actually at their computer (not 100% when arksu's was released publicly, but i definitely know not everyone used it) .
