Caves
I saw someone ask this in How Do I and I liked it. What about the ability to dig your own cave in the side of the cliff/ridges in the game? If cave openings can naturally form there why can't we make an opening? It would still be subject to collapse limits if you don't support. The idea of a cave home just sounded nice.

Guess what? It already exists!! It's called a Mine Hole.LadyV wrote:What about the ability to dig your own cave in the side of the cliff/ridges in the game?
What advantage does your idea provide over a mine hole? You can't create the cave floor that spawns everything, so that's one possible advantage out. Although I think the mine hole should be a bit cheaper, in no way should it become trivial.

Re: Caves
Why does it have to have an advantage. What is wrong with different ways to do the same thing. This game needs variety just as much as fixing mechanical issues. I never suggested making the mine hole trivial. I am suggesting the ability to use cliffs/ridges. You still need the materials to carve out a section of rock and make it secure like a mine hole. Yes I think mine holes should be a little cheaper as well.MagicManICT wrote:[

It's a computer game. Why make something that is totally redundant? It just means more work for the creator and absolutely no reward for doing so. It's one thing when it's just words on paper, but computer programs take time to design and program, not to mention potential art assets that may have to be developed. (In this specific case, there shouldn't be any extra art assets, but the point carries over for general use.) Thus, something new should have some advantage.LadyV wrote: Why does it have to have an advantage.

Very well MagicMan I thought of an advantage. It would allow us to dig within 50 spaces of the entrance unlike a cave.MagicManICT wrote:It's a computer game. It would be an impenetrable vault then. Dig a cave, go inside, build a wall to prevent a ram from being built, build a house inside the cave, put your hearth fire inside the house. It would be island vaults all over again.LadyV wrote:Very well MagicMan I thought of an advantage. Now there is a limiting point I agree with. Ill have to think about a solution.btaylor wrote:

yeah, because that so totally applies to every possible idea anyone could come up with. Bad idea is bad, but is that really a good excuse?kralmir wrote: read jorbs qoute just above again and drop this whole thing.
