Most likely but based on the strong wording of Jorb's post I went ahead and carried out the rules to the full degree. The ban was light, in light of the official judgment being only recently posted and will only be for 7 days but the thread has been moved to Hel.TheTylerLee wrote:Jorb just posted that you cant sell things for IRL money

Still a little harsh for a rule that was put in place AFTER he made the thread. But w/e, you're the mod, your call

Microtransactions are pay2win, it's what's wrong with most of these so called free mmos and unfortunately they do not lack an endless supply of fools to make them rich at the expense of balance and fairness. I outright refuse to play any game with microtransactions if they aren't completely cosmetic in nature (and as most companies have noticed those don't nearly make as much money as the game imbalancing shit but let's not stop fairness get in the way of profit and exploitation of retards who have been taught owning shit [even as ludicrous shit as pixels] is more important and more FUN than actually working your way up to get it).

Oh, I banned him for 2 weeks. Jorb said we should take into account how blatant the case was and I thought of it as kinda blatant with his ideas about fair prices. Kinda silly one doesn't see such things at a prominent place. I would have had to look through these stupid mod logs to find out he got banned already.TeckXKnight wrote:Most likely but based on the strong wording of Jorb's post I went ahead and carried out the rules to the full degree. Ah, jorb's word is final on this now. Good to hear they took a position.Avu wrote:Microtransactions are pay2win, it's what's wrong with most of these so called free mmos and unfortunately they do not lack an endless supply of fools to make them rich at the expense of balance and fairness. Avu:
Yes and... well mostly yes. There are some forms of microtransaction that aren't pay to win. Not many though. League of Legends for example, it does let you buy access to champions and additional rune pages (not just the cosmetic skins). But it's balanced in such a way that it's not game breaking despite obviously giving people access to something they didn't "earn".
The problem? Game devs need to eat. And microtransactions are a damn profitable game system.

Re: Debate about RMT in Haven and Hearth
League of legends is a JOKE competitively because of microtansactions. But for a casual game the system is bearable but only due to the nature of the game. Wouldn't work in a mmo. Also the number of games where microtransactions don't affect balance is dismal.Sevenless wrote: Avu:

As for devs needing to eat sure they do and some need to pave their pools with gold. See blizzard who doesn't get enough money from their 10+ million subscribers who pay 15 dollars a month but they felt the need to implement real money auction house in diablo 3 making it a bad joke, and it's just the begining if the fools bite (and they will) next it will be in competitive games (because diablo isn't much of one the pvp there has historically been not a focus).

^^^^ this video is a VERY VERY good explanation about the use of Microtransactions in games. (truth be told you should watch all of the videos Extra credits do though this one is posted by another party because they have not yet re-uploded this episode. Watch and learn - Microtransactions are not only the way forward (when done right and not in a game braking fashion) but will actually help the game developers earn more money (thus make better games)

Re: Debate about RMT in Haven and Hearth
I've seen it before. I'm sure we can all get drunk on done right microtransactions, and fairytales and pink ponies. Until then we got what we got and as long as fools will pay for the wrong kind of microtransactions the oh so noble capitalist spirit will profit from it. Vote with your wallet and all that except we're happy getting stepped on and we're even willing to pay good money for it.
