Re: The most dmg taken from a cave-in?
is it true that if you don't mine more than 4 tiles straight up you don't get cave-ins?

I like this guy's method. Allows for a tunnel 5 tiles wide, without supports. You just have to be VERY EXTREMELY cautious about the exact tile you are standing on when mining out a given tile.

I'm sorry, I don't quite understand what you're trying to say here.mvgulik wrote:... Take a other look at video, and note the second pattern ... (3*N)-1 ...ddhoward wrote:Allows for a tunnel 5 tiles wide
What second pattern do you speak of?

Re: The most dmg taken from a cave-in?
Mining just got scary. Do you remember if there were any boulders lying in your surroundings when you got hit?Sevenless wrote:I've taken 800 damage on lvl 1 actually. The way cave ins work is that each layer goes up in base damage (50,100,200,400,800) and then there's a random chance of how many "rocks" actually hit you (doesn't seem to be related to the number of boulders that fall though, which I find odd). As such, the *minimum* damage on L5 is 800. And, as I said, I was hit with 16x the base damage on level one.
Yeah... don't mine without supports below level 1. Safest rule I've come by with regards to mining.
