What does LP stand for? Learning points. I leave you with that fact.cobaltjones wrote:HURF DURF!!!CellPunk wrote:Exactly. You are STUDYING the object. If you've got an object you made yourself, there isn't much room for learning something you know.YourMajesty wrote:Think of it like this:

The "study" system is simply an abstraction of the new LP gain system. Quit taking things so fucking literally you tard.

"Normal" is only a difficulty level in video games - Aso11
Jackard: Koya only raises the lynx so he can molest it later
Koya: What means "molest" ? Translator cannot translate it or do it with no logics...
"And no im not native to english, I was born in the usa." - A very bad troll.

ITS A FUCKING VIDEO GAME. If the experience is honestly lessened for you by the fact that you can "study" ants and mushrooms and floating turds over and over again to make character progress then you've got bigger problems than H&H.aso11 wrote: What does LP stand for? But... I keep learning from reading same letters and same numbers and stuff other people made and I learn when I make stuff and when I watch stuff...

On a serious note.. Screw realism. The only thing that matters is gameplay and item balance and imo, that is fine as it is. There will always be something rare and valuable, whether it's a flotsam or a high q steed, and you'll always have to adapt and make the best out of it.

I feel like you are teetering on the edge of the "Realism" argument. Any way you slice it, the system does not make sense so trying to use a sensical arguement to explain the systems is full of fail. I believe the reason craftables are worse than foragables is to get people out exploring or to keep groups from having the best stock piled up in a cupboard and never having to leave camp.aso11 wrote: What does LP stand for? I don't really think any of the options presented are very good. "The best is found outside the city" idea applies to very few other things in the game. I think we could use more "fairly common forageable" + "item produced in town" = good curio. I also think the gap should be closed between produced and foraged curos.
Even then, you (the op) needs to do a better job of presenting your idea. What is a good curo anyways? More LP total? Better LP to metal weight? More LP per hour? We can ask for any of those metrics of good to be applied to crafted curos.

So none of you learned anything by playing wargames with miniature horses before? Or from watching the way an ant scurried around getting food?
Odds of getting q80 ants: so rare I don't even want to think about it. If anyone has found soil of that quality, they're gonna claim it and good luck to anyone else.
Odds of making a q80 straw doll: Give it time and you'll have them coming out your ass if you so choose.

This. The idea of walling yourselves in like hermits, and suddenly emerging from your cocoon like an angel bursting from the heavens with 4-figure stats is kind of depressing.riotman477 wrote:I feel like you are teetering on the edge of the "Realism" argument. i mean do you think they take thier crafting char out there to forage? Hell no, they take thier combat/explor/throw away alt out there. so if they do die, then thier main combat/palibasher/ comes out with your 4 digit stats and rapes all.
I just counted up the avail curios from ring of broadgar. from what i can tell there are 67 curios total. out of that 41 of them are gathered by foraging/hunting. which leaves 26(roughly just over a third) to be crafted.
I wish that there were more craftable crop curios.
(necro: was gonna post what i gleamed from ring of brodgar but saw there already was a thread)

I don't really see your point in necroing this. It has been proven wrong anyway and wa smade when most towns only had low q crafted curios right after the system had been introduced. From a certain point forward you can easily maintain a good set of chars with crafted curios only and while the foraged ones will have the edge quite a long time, the crafted get pretty close and foraging yourself can be regarded as a time waster when you can just craft huge amounts of curios.
So, why necro it?

Re: Foraging i mean wtf
Let me understand your point more clearly, your saying that with all the crafted curios, you don't have the need or want of foragable? what's your int score at m8?
i guess for me i would want a choise, do i want to go outside and look for more rescources(and in turn get some more curios) or do I want to make more crafted ones and then work on my plot additions/expand my walls and such.
