Why would someone kill me

I would like to ask the same question...

I had just started a new character... it was going to be a hermit... (even named it graal hermit). Was feeling pretty good about myself, started in a pretty non civilized area, found 4 rabbits in less than 10 mins, even had their furs drying... then I decide to explore the region, try to find some fruits and stuff... and all of a sudden 2 guys come, and one of them knocks me out almost instantly and then hits me 3 times while I'm unconscious and I die...

I haven't the slightest idea of how I met someone that fast and even less why they decided to kill me... but oh well...

Easy answer, people like to kill people who are weaker than them for fun because they are bored and you, being new, was a weak, easy target.

What's the fun in killing someone new in a game with perma death? I really don't think people should be killable at least until they have claimed some terrain/joined a village or committed some crime... but what do I know?

As Jordan said, play the game more and you will understand the problems associated with having unkillable toons. The ability to troll with unkillable tophat noobs is just ridiculous. Being able to kill everyone is necessary to keep this game in order, sorry you got killed but there are players that also go out and kill trolls... until they vault up at least but that is another story.
