Presumably you mean Castle Story, not Cave Story.
Please split the list between MMOs, MP/SP, MP only and SP only. And include Love (MP only) http://www.quelsolaar.com/love/index.html
Shores of Hazeron and Star Quest look extremely ugly. Unfunctionally ugly.

Re: The 1# Sandbox Mmos/Games List
unreal world has taken up most of the time i would usually play haven in. urw is one of the most unique single player games i've played, the devs describe it as "a unique low-fantasy roguelike game set in the far north during the late Iron-Age."

Re: The 1# Sandbox Mmos/Games List
I hadn't heard of a few of these, some seemed decentish but none really stood out. From the videos I've seen of Eve it doesn't look all that exciting though I'm told it's the best thing since air
Here's a game I just found in my laptop's bookmarks, I saved it and forgot about it before it was released but it appears to be out now.

Game is apparently heavily influenced by trade. You get actual skills in trade which gets raised by trading. Combat and trade skills are seperate so it seems like you can pick your path if you prefer one over the other.
Example: Selling cooked produce to increase your cooking and eventually become a master cook merchant

doooo eeeet!!! One of the best indie games on the net (next to Dwarf Fortress that is).dagrimreefah wrote:Well, fuck. I guess I'm going to have to try UrW now.
OP: If you're doing single player games, why you no include Dwarf Fortress? http://bay12games.com/dwarves/ If you don't like the ANSI graphics, there are several 8/16-bit graphics packs that you can install with it. The company motto is "Losing is !!FUN!!"
Also, no other MMO needs to be mentioned other than EVE. All the rest pale in comparison to the awesomeness that is EVE. I wouldn't have ever even touched HnH if my shit-tastic computer could run the latest client. You might note that the game, while subscription based, can be played for free in perpetuity through buying and selling PLEX (game time codes tradable on the market in game). It shouldn't take you more than 2-3 months to get enough earning power to do so.
Along the vein of EVE, another small eastern European developed game deserves mention: Perpetuum Online. Instead of spaceships, it's sentient robots. One of the major critic points is that many of the interface designs plays out much like EVE. Some of the core game mechanics are similar, too. However, the games start differing from there, and it really is its own game with a development plan that will make it quite different over the long run. It is purely subscription right now, though, and $10 US a month if I recall right. There is a trial available.
In development: World of Darkness. Little has come out of the labs from CCP or White Wolf, though, on it, other than it is in development (and has been for the last 4-5 years now). They have clearly stated that they want this to be open-world PvP sandbox. (FYI, think it's also offering permadeath. Don't quote me on that, though.)
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Just tried it. Although the game is obviously very in depth and in no way can I get a full appreciation of the game after just playing it for 1.5 hrs, I will have to say that so far it's pretty bad ass. Very fun, very open, and idk what you're talking about Haz, the photos are fucking great lolMagicManICT wrote: doooo eeeet!!! One of the best indie games on the net (next to Dwarf Fortress that is).

I actually played it; there are no good partsblazsword wrote:I can agreed that mortal online isn't the best sandbox mmo out there. I know it doesnt have much features and were very unfinished at it's release. The game does still look promoseing and it has it bad and good parts. Thought still it's a game that i will look into time to time to see if anything new have happend. Worst part of it.. Mortal online being very slow with updates and fixing bugs. It lacks alot of feature and content and i heard they will release 2 new expanions everyday... Proberly but who knows.
just look at this list and you will realize the bar has been set very low for this genre, one terrible title after another
