How do i charge my bow

With sling, you need marksmanship value of 2*slingQ for maximum charge - not damage. (I suggest to get at least 10 MM to start with, though you can't kill deers and it still is very slow)
Bow, you need 3*bowQ.
R.bow, you need 6*R.bowQ.

Of course if your MM is less than the sling/bow Q it's fine, but it means it would slow the charging time.

This isn't even close to correct. Please see the wiki page for accurate information on how weapon quality effects ranged combat. To sum it up: Your MM skill effects maximum possible accuracy. MM and weapon type effects aim speed (which is what the numbers Aervyn has here are for). Weapon quality can cap the effective MM skill the character can use.

I was assuming that when the OP mentioned "charge", he meant aiming speed. And I was talking only about aiming speed using range weapons, not damage.
I was trying to tell the OP that using a bow takes 3 times longer aiming time than using a sling.

As I understood it, when you use q20 sling for example, if your MM is 100, your aiming speed wouldn't go any faster than if you have 40 MM.
