The act of what you call "rationalization" in fact leads to more proof that a God exists.
I think the real issue here is that atheists look down on theists, and vice-versa. I think there are a lot of honorable and wonderful theists who are productive to society, loving, and very open minded, and I also think there are a lot of atheists who are wonderful, loving, and productive people.
I think a discussion about WHY someone believes in God is so much more thoughtful than a discussion about why someone's beliefs are wrong. I don't think life is about proving someone wrong. Besides, what do you accomplish by showing someone proof that God does or doesn't exist? The whole idea of religion is that is a personal thing. Jesus taught people to pray in private.

Why do you morons use the anagram WWW when it should be WWM. Fucking monkeys.
I wish I was a woman. Being an attractive female is like having a government job while being a man means I have to work. Here's hoping you find happiness in this world being the annoying little bottom bitch you are destined to be.

"Perfect" is a subjective term here. Who are we to say that the universe is so "perfect," "complex," and "beautiful" and therefore a higher being must have created it? Just because something appears to be amazingly complex to us, we cannot just explain it away as the work of God. Complexity and beauty do not prove that there is a god.ewlol wrote: My AP physics teacher in high school told me something very interesting once. During a conversation about how he finds "God in science", he remarked that it was entirely UNscientific to believe that God doesn't exist given all of the information we have discovered through scientific study. If one looks at all of the equations that calculate gravity, permeability, electric force, magnetism, and so many others, it truly is a wonder that these equations are so perfect. He also remarked about the probability that a universe like the current was created. He presented us with un-biased calculations about the universe that were truly astounding.
I do agree that it is unscientific to argue that God does not exist, just as it is unscientific to argue that God does exist. Philosophy and religion do not have a place in science; science never tries to seek the "truth." Science is an objective way for humanity to learn about natural phenomena.

1) because it doesn't explain your own personal belief system, since it is not falsifiable and so cannot be part of a scientific theory.WarpedWiseMan wrote:
Did you not read any of my previous posts on the subject? I'm guessing no, and that reading comprehension is not your cup of tea.
Allow me to reiterate:
1) Science and evolution exist. So why shouldn't I use the manner in which the world is observed to explain my own personal belief system?
2) Never tried to prove anything. Even if I did believe in the Christian model I wouldn't want any of you fucktards mucking about in heaven with me. All I did was give some reasons why I believe life is too complicated for science to be the end all be all in regards to the creation of human existence.
3) That specific response was aimed at dagriblarghasomething because he's been a fucking twat the entire thread.
4) Believe what you want, but I already stated almost everything you wrote in this pointless post earlier in the thread.
2) giving reasons that you claim are based on logic/observation of nature is tantamount to attempting a scientific proof, also just because we don't understand something yet doesn't mean we never will, which is why I don't like people to invoke the "god of the gaps".
3) agreed, i guess, but
4) i've pointed out why your arguments are wrong; as nothing said in this discussion is likely to make anyone change their mind, i suppose my post was for the benefit of anyone who didn't already have an opinion and could be fooled by your pseudo-science. i've tried to be polite to you and respect your beliefs while telling you why you can't (logically) argue in the way that you have attempted to. Its a shame you can't seem to show respect to people whose beliefs differ from your own.
+1, except that I think science does seek the truth, just a different kind than religion/philosophy.Sarchi wrote: I do agree that it is unscientific to argue that God does not exist, just as it is unscientific to argue that God does exist. religion/philosophy doesnt seek the "truth" it just tries to explain things which mankind cannot understand atm_Gunnar wrote:+1, except that I think science does seek the truth, just a different kind than religion/philosophy.Sarchi wrote: I do agree that it is unscientific to argue that God does not exist, just as it is unscientific to argue that God does exist. Philosophy isn't about just "the truth," but about processing information and trying to make sense out of it. There is no "truth" other than how we perceive things in the moment. The "truth" changes from moment to moment.
Does God/gods exist? Are they pure myth? Who can know and nobody can prove anyone right or wrong. All we can do is read the stories that the ancients passed down for millennia. If people want to completely ignore these things, they are just as ignorant as those that ignore what science has to say. I think it was Einstein, one of the greatest minds ever on the planet that said something like "Religion without science is blind. Science without religion is lame."

Does God Exist?
Nope ... Self delusion and imagination are man's great powers. The need to be sure his great desire.
Knowing you never can be sure is your enlightenment ... not some super parent with some imported plan for you.
Grow up. Live is pretty short as it is to be worrying about unattainable desires, or what might be next. (You will find out when its your time ... Or not of course, But I doubt you will notice the latter case.)
If I'm wrong, He knows where to find me.

Like they did in Soddom and Gomorrah thousands of years ago, resulting in GOD evaporizing their asses to Inferno where they're still nibbling on Beelzebub's fiery tool.
