Re: Alternative Client
At one stage pacho had me considering using swing's JDesktop classes to group all the windows, but personally I prefer the ability to arrange my desktop to view other app windows as well, like xchat and my browser.

Re: Alternative Client
While I agree in many aspects, I can at least let you know that your client, for that reason, doesn't interact very well with the window manager I'm using (StumpWM), which has made it a bit hard for me to try it out properly. In large parts, I blame StumpWM (because it could be extended in many ways to interact better with such programs), but there are many programs that use windows in a bit too overlapping-window-centric ways (the Gimp is another of those), which does make it hard to experiment with new window management paradigms, which is something I'm not too fond of. Freedom to tinker is something I always try to protect. :)theTrav wrote:At one stage pacho had me considering using swing's JDesktop classes to group all the windows, but personally I prefer the ability to arrange my desktop to view other app windows as well, like xchat and my browser.

Hehe, in that case I would run it in either Xnest or a separate X session, you know. VMs are very overrated, IMNSHO. ;)theTrav wrote:run it in a VM

heheh, yes I'll probably do that. Pacho and I speak to each other about our modded clients every now and again. Pacho picked up the final pieces to his jnlp puzzle from my own failed attemtps.kimya wrote:i would really like an easier way of running this client. like pacho did it, that was easy...
