Nice radar on your mini map too. This is so unrealistic to the game's time period. But its just a game so what ever.

Its a custom client feature. Its not like it is actually implied that your character is walking around with a radar device in his backpack.
Also, even if your character did have a radar device, it wouldn't help much in finding particular forageables. Do you even know how radar works?
