I was going to suggest you try hiring someone to do a one-time upgrade then (if money is less of an issue), but then you'd have to spend time looking for someone who was competent I suppose..loftar wrote:To be honest, the greatest problem isn't so much the funds (Hetzner is rather cheap), but the time needed to set everything up.Berdy wrote:XD if it get bad enough you should start a fund rasier/kick starter for a new sever.

Re: Planned downtime: OS upgrade
Also why not
1) Turn off loggin
2) Revert back to Debian 5.0 and have the same stuff prior to the OS upgrade? Tried and true, we know it's at least bearable.

Re: Planned downtime: OS upgrade
I can certainly assure you that it would take less time to do the upgrade than to teach someone else to do it. :)Krugz wrote:I was going to suggest you try hiring someone to do a one-time upgrade then (if money is less of an issue), but then you'd have to spend time looking for someone who was competent I suppose..
I don't think you understand what logging I speak of; I speak of filesystem journalling, not even logging.Sarchi wrote:Also why not

Debian 5.0 being deprecated means not only that it isn't receiving updates, but also that the files to install it are kind of hard to even get hold of. ;)Sarchi wrote:2) Revert back to Debian 5.0 and have the same stuff prior to the OS upgrade? Tried and true, we know it's at least bearable.
And it's not as if it was actually "good" by any absolute metric to begin with. :)

Nope, unless you got killed before the server shutdown of coursesharkdepot wrote:hey stupid question i had to walk away for a few mins and i was taming a mouflon and combat was on and the server shut down does that mean i lost my toon?
You will log back in like nothing happened but the mouflon will be gone, though.
