Stupid question really about bone

So i was on the wiki and it says i can get bone material from skeletons and im just wondering 1. if its true that you can get bone material from other player corpses or not and 2. how do you do it if you can?

I read that on the old wiki page too, however I have never been able to get bone from skeletons.

okay well atleast its not just me. but i stumbled across a bunch of chickens so i managed to get the bone i needed hahaha. now im gunna go fishin

Skeletons refers to animal only. The only thing you can do with dead players is "bury" (destroy) them. They don't even decay.
