My thought is about battle itself. IF I understand it correct, never having to fight another Hearthling before, when you battle, you attack the SHP first right, like how the animals deal damage, that means that you need to take an extra step to Murder someone right, or activate a CrimeSkill right.
IF its not like that ignore the rest of this post, if it is, continue.
Why not confirm the standings of combat with your opponent. instead of outright MURDER you only knock the target unconscious and then do your little bit of pillaging, this way only those that attack are at risk of losing their character due to their desire to attack others for their work.
I doubt anyone will be getting back up after regaining consciousness and say, OH hey lets attempt to retaliate at the fellas that Knocked me out with one shot. Surely that was a lucky hit and it won't happen again even with so little SHP...
Only if its agreed between the two parties that it will be TO THE DEATH, will deaths actual happen...
EDIT: Yay for bad Grammar, Mix of tiredness and something funking happening to my Post Creation Text Box.

Re: Battle Ettiquite-Just a quick thought.
Problem is, all the fights I've heard of so far were started with the intention of killing someone.

Maybe this isnt a good idea for murder attempts, but I guess it could be applied to other happenings, like getting busted while trying to steal, deliberately ignoring warnings to leave property, etc... In some cases, it really is enough to scare off the intruder by KO'ing him/her. But its up to the people how they handle it. Personally, if someone steals from me, Ill shoot them down. If they steal again, I kill them off. Its a matter of honor and respect.

Son of a bitch logged in with a battle axe and started taking shots at us, when 10 guys start shooting arrows at someone I have no control over if he dies or not.

See, the dullards of "the country so lazy they forgot to name it, so they just stuck to the title of it instead of being UNITED in a decision" abbreviate everything they possibly can, all to. *catches breath* make things easier. Errors be damned!. Go... North of (name - MEXICO( title - United States of Mexico)), and south of (name - CANADA (United Provinces of North America))

Hmm, the bot seems to be broken, he's spouting generics instead of replacing them with words from appropriate list.

Wait - you are uncertain how basic combat works, but you still suggest "improvements" to it?Neyvn wrote:My thought is about battle itself.
