I was one of the Alpha testers and am now one of the beta testers, I know exactly what he did and support it. The insane quality differences were giving some people an unfair advantage and they were using it to raid, kill and generally run off testers. besides, it IS in beta and everything is subject to change at a moments notice, you are promised NOTHING and should be damned glad you were allowed to participate in the testing. Don't like changes? Don't beta test a game. As for him or anyone ruining Haven, the Devs are already rebuilding it from the ground up and it "isn't" going to be the same game so you might as well stop playing/following now because it's "going" to change a lot.

Yeah the purity change was def the right choice. With very little effort and a 2-3 node you can get 100+ in stats with a good 8 hour grind.painhertz wrote: I was one of the Alpha testers and am now one of the beta testers, I know exactly what he did and support it. They still raid, kill and generally run off testers. That has not changed.
Precisely because it is beta, I have the right to voice my opinion, and in my opinion it was stupid to remove the old purity (quality) system before introducing the new one. I am not against a change, but against how the change was implemented. Potjeh is one of the testers responsible for the manner in which they changed. I am merely advicing him to not give the devs stupid ideas next time. (His idea about implementation, not the new system itself)
It is as stupid as removing combat altogether, then wait 5 months for a new combat system to be implemented.
As for H&H: the devs have no incentive to keep developing H&H other than during their free time. Salem is their job, as such H&H has no future in comparison to Salem.

Woe unto the world, I do truly wish that Salem dies in some horrible fire, so that the developers return to their first love.

Haven was only "Ever" developed during their free time as it's their hobby and a testbed for ideas, not something that will ever be a product so nothing has changed there. Also? They have quite clearly stated that when Salem is released, they will be going back to "full time" coding on Haven so for all you know, Paradox will take over bugfixing and content addition for Salem when it's released. To give you a good example.... In 1997 Richard Garriot and his people designed and coded Ultima Online which he then sold to EA games and here it is, 13 or so years later and Ultima Online is still running whilst Richard Garriot hasn't had anything to do with it since...2000? something like that. Anyhow, i think I've made my point.

Re: World 6
How is paradox going to add any meaningful content? patches? fixes?
Their in-house development team works with a single Grand Strategy engine, and even their new proprietary engine has had all of its games contracted out.
Their track record with these low-cost development games (and their publishing strategies) is not good. The only one that has made it to release is Gettysburg: Armored Warfare, which was released on self-acknowledged "incompletion", and become abandonware shortly after release. If the development style of Salem is progressing in any way the same fashion, then it is more than likely that they are not actually working on it full time (as their patching/involvement would seem to indicate).
I think what few promises Jorb made in regards to the "future" of Haven should be at least taken with a grain of salt, given the current "status" of the project.
Even if everything I say is completely false and slanderous, there is the very real fact that Haven and Hearth is being neglected. That, in and of itself, is warranting at least some complaint. I haven't paid for this, but I damn well love it.

how about try and convince devs yourself if you really think his ideas are so stupid?leah wrote:I am merely advicing him to not give the devs stupid ideas next time. (His idea about implementation, not the new system itself)

the fact that you cannot make yourself heard but just vent your anger on potjeh here instead says something, doesnt it?
