Then you are not very well informed. This whole thread (at least the latest developments) are about how struggles in real life relationships led to in game drama and murder.

You do realize that just because you talk to someone in skype/whatever voice-communication program, it doesn't mean that you are interacting outside of the game? For all we know, the grand majority of all non-game related chitchat was actually a part of a larger plan to gain trust inside the game and thus game-related.burgingham wrote:Then you are not very well informed. What a narrow minded view point you have. We are talking about more than just the game here. We are talking about people who got to know each other over the course of several months and formed a bond of trust and friendship. In a game or not this is a very real thing.leah wrote: You do know that it is a game? Just because you manage to fool someone inside a game, it doesn't mean that you should stop being friends outside of the game.
People who truly care about one another don't break that bond over trivial matters because they are bored or whatever other bullshit excuse they come up with. They try to work it out and maintain their friendship.
So to answer your question, yeah, I know it's just a game. To me though, it makes no difference if this happened in real life or in a game. Trust and friendship was destroyed because one person made the decision that he didn't care about that bond any more.
There were no tricks, or ruses for an ultimate plan, it was a split second decision made by an angry person to end something that was real. The rest of the mindless drones just followed.

The problem is: have that trust ever been tested outside of the game? You shouldn't go all mad if a friend beats you in a FPS. You shouldn't go all mad if a friend pulls an April Fools prank on you. You shouldn't go all mad if a friend deceives you in a game where deception is a major gameplay aspect.Kaios wrote:What a narrow minded view point you have. Edit:
Actually, it is now, that you truly know if you are real friends or just ingame "false" friends. A real friend does not freeze you out just because they are angry over you deceiving them in a deception game.

You are really not getting the point here so I don't feel the need to talk to a brick wall. I applaud you for trying to convince me that relationships formed over the course of time have no real meaning though.
I kind of feel sorry for you.

They can prove they have real meaning by not freezing Valten out in real life just because he deceived them in a game where deception is allowed and important. They can be friends outside of the game, but arch-enemies inside the game.Kaios wrote:You are really not getting the point here so I don't feel the need to talk to a brick wall. It's been like a month coming. It was my vote to kill ravian like 3-4 weeks ago when he attacked one of our friends and when we said he was chasing our friend he responded with "I don't care".Kaios wrote:There were no tricks, or ruses for an ultimate plan, it was a split second decision made by an angry person to end something that was real. Should you be mad if your friend formats your HD as a prank? Or spikes the tires on your car?
