You could buy higher quality metal in nugget or bar form in stalls. Really, coins should all be done with low quality stuff.
I just can't think of an unabusable way to remove quality from coins while keeping it possible to remelt them into bars.

Re: Game Development: Vending Stand
Well, the resultant QL of the bar or nugget from coins could depend on the QLs of whatever is used to reform them. I assume this would be smelter + fuel.
People with high quality smelters and fuel would be able to reforge these coins into high quality bars and resell them at a higher price due to labor costs involved.
People unable to do so will still be able to make them into lower QL bars for reselling/usage, or just spend them again.
But yeah, there's a flaw with this. This would make high QL steel easily obtainable since you can just make crappy bars, turn them into coins, and smelt these into high QL coins. I guess there'd have to be some kind of special provision for them... like throwing the coins into a crucible, or capping the QL at 10, or something like that.
Gold and SIlver would be fine, as their bars and nuggets don't have QL in the first place.

this sentence didn't really make sense to me.Yeah you're totally right the coin system which is already gimped to hell and gets tons of suggested boosts such as carrying more because it is that underpowered needs one more reason not to use it!
would you mind explaining how exactly coins would be nerfed 'even more' by the removal of quality?
surely it would benefit coins by making all coins of the same metal equal in value, rather than a q40 stack of 100 copper coins being more valuable than a q35 stack of 100 copper coins. Gold>Silver>Copper?
just like the good old days of RP?
really necessary?You are stupid.

The inability to only accept metal over a certain QL forcing anyone who wished to get higher QL metal to go through a third party and make trading just that bit more tedious?eql wrote:this sentence didn't really make sense to me.Yeah you're totally right the coin system which is already gimped to hell and gets tons of suggested boosts such as carrying more because it is that underpowered needs one more reason not to use it!

If all coins were the same QL, people would only ever convert back what would be used for non QL items.
If you cannot see how this makes coins even more annoying to use you are stupid as all fuck.

so you want coins to be some lovely thing where you can convert it back to metal bars of high quality without any penalty what so ever ?Delamore wrote: The inability to only accept metal over a certain QL forcing anyone who wished to get higher QL metal to go through a third party and make trading just that bit more tedious?

You mean aside from the fact that it costs fuel and the bar had to be high QL to begin with?eql wrote:so you want coins to be some lovely thing where you can convert it back to metal bars of high quality without any penalty what so ever ?Delamore wrote: The inability to only accept metal over a certain QL forcing anyone who wished to get higher QL metal to go through a third party and make trading just that bit more tedious?

The effort to get the bar high QL has already been expended, there is no need for a user to input more for coins.

How else do you think the Q of coins is determined? High Q bars make high Q coins. Low Q bars make low Q coins.eql wrote:why does the bar have to be high QL for the coins...?

So if you have high Q coins they came from a high Q bar, and should obviously be able to be converted back into such.

See, you got no clue at all and still want to discuss about this. Inform yourself about how it is NOW before suggesting how to make it better.eql wrote:why does the bar have to be high QL for the coins...?

Re: Game Development: Vending Stand
this is getting more and more funny ever post. you think i didnt know that? what you guys havent understood is what im saying you dolts. COINS SHOULDNT DISPLAY THEIR QUALITY SO AS TO DISCOURAGE PEOPLE FROM BEING FUSSY ABOUT COIN QL. they still have a QL but we just cant see it. when you convert it back it will take an average of the lot and then display it because it will be a bar. thus you still have useable metal just probably wont be the best choice for any HIGH QL items you might want to craft, which makes sense really cos if you were going to craft something of a high quality then you wouldnt get some coins and melt them down youd go and source some high quality metal.Cain wrote:How else do you think the Q of coins is determined?
