I love chicken and I'm for gays getting married. I also think this is a distraction from the media, but I can't be bothered I have fish to catch. I hope to catch more sturgeon just cos they look cool.

not to sideline this important debate (lol) but I really enjoy Upton Sinclair's work. its a little nostalgic, morally biased, and very dry at times but he makes some good points about anglo-american society. Also you have to remember most of his work coincides with the whole rise of mass media and yellow journalism thing (pulitzer, hearst, etc.) Have you ever read Oil! or the whole 'dead hand' series? I really liked Mammonart...Potjeh wrote:The Jungle
You don't even know the man's name, his job description nor title but somehow arrive at the "most wealthy people are batshitcrazy" conclusion. We literally have the world [information] at our fingertips yet forum users happily repeat distortions and willfully misrepresent the opposition.questionmark wrote: but to get on topic the owner or ceo or what-have-you of chick-fil-a is, like most people with oodles of money and free time, completely bat shit insane and behind the times.

Actually, that makes a lot of sense. Better explanation for America being crazy than any I've heard before.Tonopah wrote:Summary.
LA helps drive American culture, nudges trends and fades into motion, earns billions of dollars in entertainment revenue and the majority of voting age residents are apparently batshitcrazy right-wing fascist gay-hating christo-tradionalists.
Yeah, that makes sense. Eff'n internet morons.
They get the same rights as everyone else. WTF are you talking about? They can buy land. They can own a gun. They can protect their property and themselves. At least understand what the word "rights" means. Getting a state contracted religious ceremony (marriage) is not a fucking right. READ THE BILL OF RIGHTS as a reference guide PEOPLE..........ApocalypsePlease wrote:It's not special rights when a group is asking for the same rights as everyone else
Tyranny. I thought you were all about rights?ApocalypsePlease wrote: this decision/vote really shouldn't be made by the people and should just be set in place.
Yes when we look back and see we have made a protected class (used for political purposes) out of a sex fetish, then we see people emotionally demanding tyranny for it like you.ApocalypsePlease wrote:Going to be sad having to look back on this in the future and how people have acted.
You have to have expertise to blindly follow rigid religious beliefs? Fuck, you have to be an expert to have an opinion? Wow, you and the rest of this full blown retarded society bitches and moans about 'the-poor-sex-fetish-practitioners' "rights"' (when they were never violated), but what about this tolerance I'm always hearing about? Such a great person, can sit around blabbing about fucking tolerance all day, but can't actually practice it when it comes to someone he finds distasteful...ApocalypsePlease wrote:Also why the fuck is this guy's opinion given any special attention over everyone else's when he has no expertise/knowledge on the matter.
look buddy, I'm no political scientist but didn't prop 8 fail by a 1% margin, or pass depending on who you ask?Tonopah wrote: Words

But it is. Its in the Bill of Rights.questionmark wrote: Im not saying that the right to be gay has to be written into law like everything else in this country
The Declaration of Independence was a list of grievances to King George III and us Declaring independence from Britain.questionmark wrote:We have this thing back in history called the declaration of independence if i remember correctly? Isn't it supposed to garuntee me the opportunity and not the privilege to pursue life liberty and happiness (or property to some) and so forth?
Yeah, nice over simplification there. You don't even know what the fuck you're talking about man. Why the fuck would poor people saving money on STATE taxes piss off rich people? Do you morons even realize that the contractual obligation THE STATE puts itself in via you getting married is delegated power to the state, and you can still get married on a local level? Do you realize that here in America, you can vote with your feet? WTF does it matter what your tax status is anyway if you just want to get married? Do any of you morons even fully grasp the intricacies of any of this? Or are you just regurgitating shit you heard on TV to make yourself feel morally superior? The superficial gibberish I hear being puked back up from main stream media then made use as arguments in these forums makes me want to puke myself.questionmark wrote:Is it because poor, gay, wage-earning (some immigrants, shocking, I know) people are looking to save some money on their taxes and this upsets crazy rich people? Possibly.
questionmark wrote: The fact that this vote did not pass is almost a sad memorial to this 'all men were created equal' business

questionmark wrote:I don't even know why this is an issue! There are worse problems in America, we have a legislature that does nothing about major issues like health care and our military fiascos of the past decade.

questionmark wrote:but i guess it doesn't matter when you own like 1,000 fast-food restaurants. you can just yammer on about how great jesus is and how gay people steal your pets and eat babies, i don't know. And the kicker, people will listen! Meanwhile my poor ass is just yammering to entertain myself or repress the days awful memories and no one is listening
