Let me answer you with some questions (I know that is rude).

What exactly is a hearthvault?

What is an exploit and how do you prove who exactly used it? Proving is something else than accusing.

What should be considered proof? Screenshots, chatlogs, videos? All of these are so easy to fake.

Which villages cheated? When did they cheat? What kinds of cheat did they use? Did all of their villagers use cheats? Or only some? If so which? Who should be punished? All of them or just those who cheated? Where is the border bteween cheating and not cheating? Is the one supplying the cheater with food so that the cheater found time to cheat and still eat just as guilty? Or do I let him go?

Have you ever witnessed what kinds of shitstorms I cause when just doing my modwork? Once I was being trolled hardcore by some member of Dis and when I banned them that led to almost a week of discussions. Do you have any idea what would happen if I made a decision about in game activities that might cause the destruction of achievements players have built over months? I am certainly not the only mod on the forums that does not only have admirers, so you probably see where this is going.

Do you have any idea how much time proper investigations would take? I personally don't have that time to spend on moderating a game for free. If the devs pay me then scratch this point.

I could continue, but I guess my point is clear.

the answer for questions is simple - counselor dicisions always are subjective,
but if he is adequate, experienced, independed and trusted it is ok to be subjective.

I see your point. but I also know that 99% of the MMO's out there, have some form of moderation and policing against exploits/hacks. now some of the questins you asked, i feel have simple answers(imo hearthvaults to be one) others(where do we draw the line on how deep the nuke goes and the whole concept of evidence), not so easy.

but these questions are not to be answered by one man(we see what dictatorships do)but shared by the "council"


but i believe my origional statement still holds true.

if the evidence is overwelming, i don't see a problem with nuke.

I don't think that is what we are saying. We are saying that the hearthlands wouldn't necessarily be better off with a mod council governing them.

What the hearthlands need are development by Jorb and Loftar. Not nuking hearthvaults.

For the time being I would just shut down the server if I was them.
