Re: Milestones
you just use the signs to store stone...
but if you actually build them for some weird reason, then yes you'll automaticly move along the path with weird music

The OP needs this. It's a very useful tool. Also, this might be more useful for the original question asked.
Scooby Doo taught us that the real monsters are humans.

Re: Milestones
Our LawSpeaker made a nice milestone path around our village and we use it to make wall checking. It is usefull for worksaving.
It does make the toon move authomatically, we still need to watch carefully to spot rams, but there is no need of moving the toon because of obstacles and turns.
Actually the only time I do move the toon when wallchecking meanwhile using the milestone, is to forage or kill an animal.
Also I have seen a path made inside huge connected caves. I think players do use them there to come from and go to their mining nodes for fast and easy travelling.
As there are allways carts in this route I imagine they place the toon with the cart to carry the ore, using the milestone, but never bumped into a toon there so Im not sure.
Near our village there are paths too, those lead to rivers and go along the riverside. They where not made by us and have their starting point at a worn out place that I believe is an abandoned claim.
