Re: Colonies - The Survival Sandbox ORPG (I'm the developer!
So a couple of big concerns: How will bug abuse be dealt with? Many in the Haven community are sore for having bug users freely destroying everything they own. While this isn't inherently bad as it exposes bugs, if the bug is never fixed, or fixed incredibly slowly, it can kill moral and encourage retaliation via bug abuse. The second question is cost; your game looks super neat and like it'd be fun to pick up and try. I'm not going to be paying you $60 and then $15 a month though. =)

Currently it looks pretty bad. Walking on the grids breaks everything. I do not see any potential, Thanks for your attention.

my only problem with salem is a bit of my real life issue and their forum mod team (or paradox).Grable wrote:I believe most of us find Salem to be an unsuitable replacement for H&H.
otherwise, i would be playing it now.

I'm not saying it's necessarily bad, but for me it feels much more like a chore than an actual game. Also I just cannot get past the extremely ugly 3D graphics. Isometric 2D of Salem is far superior.Tonkyhonk wrote:my only problem with salem is a bit of my real life issue and their forum mod team (or paradox).Grable wrote:I believe most of us find Salem to be an unsuitable replacement for H&H.

You heard correctly lol.Tonkyhonk wrote:from the vid...

lolwhut? did i hear it wrong? (well, my listening skill is not as perfect as that of natives ofc...)
if i heard it correctly, how are you planning to deal with feasting on alts?
I would like to sell the game at a low, one time purchase. Once you own the client, you own it. These costs will just help me afford the server costs and associated costs with the game. I promise the price won't be excessive.
Newbies will be able to play in a controlled, non-PvP world. Once they feel comfortable with the game, they can simply hop on the main server where it's complete anarchy (plus the player run govts).imo, it would require either some man-power 24/7 (to be dealing with griefing actions whenever needed) or having pvp everywhere (to let players deal with them). or, maybe, just maybe, some limited hours of instanced map (for single player/group) could teach new players how to play. but tbt, honestly i have no idea how and what can be done to solve it. it also has a lot to do with what you find griefing and whatnot.
I want to keep the game in Alpha for a while. I'll keep it open to the close community of friends and people who want to test the game, but I want to really make sure that all the bugs and glitches are ironed out before any formal releases are handled. I also don't think I'll formally support client mods, but there really is no way to prevent people from modding. I may also allow player servers of some sort, but I'm not sure yet.So a couple of big concerns: How will bug abuse be dealt with? I also mentioned the price above. No monthly fees at all. I hate monthly fees. I would love to see Colonies on Steam Greenlight, but it'll be a struggle.
I actually thought the same thing prior to making the game. The 2D retro graphics are really cool in this perspective. Thanks for your opinion though.Currently it looks pretty bad. Walking on the grids breaks everything. I do not see any potential, Thanks for your attention.
Thanks to the rest of you

Modding can be good sometimes, I mean in a graphic way of courseJungletoe wrote:I want to keep the game in Alpha for a while.
